I drew this for my introductory drawing class. I really enjoyed my Drawing I class. It was early in the morning and 2 hours long 3 times a week, but who could say no to drawing? I expected to be totally amateurish compared to other students, but the class really boosted my confidence in my drawing skills and I learned a few things. This assignment's theme was reflection, and we had to have a person in it somewhere. I was surprised with myself that I didn't actually put a person in full detail rather than a reflection of one as I enjoy drawing people so much, but it's also something I like about it, the person is secondary.Just got my digital camera(it rox) today so I took a picture of it. Hope you enjoy it even though it's not anime.
36 x 24(Two 18x12s put together). Done in charcoal. Minor tweaking was done with photoshop to crop it and adjust contrast.

Whoa! Tremendous textures in this--the leaves, the droplets, even the background. Great job with charcoal--heck I was ready to say great capture with the digicam

Since the image is simple, because it only consists of a leaf and some water drops. I really need to have some texture and detail in it to set it off. I'm glad you like it. Thanks

not only do you taste good, but you draw like a goddess. heh, once i take care of all these exenses that keep coming i was planning on taking a drawing class myself. you have any tips till then.

As for tips, if you're doing something realistic, avoid using line and use tone. In real life, there are very few "edges" Nearly everything works in a gradient of some sort. Other than that.... Light is the master of everything in drawing.

I'm glad you appreciate the black and white. I couldn't work in color in this because the drawing was huge and I would've needed a good range of pastels(which I don't have) to color it.

Actually yes, I did use some references. I used one picture of a leaf I liked and then a few photos of some water droplets, then I kinda merged together in my imagination. I'm really glad you like it.

I didn't like charcoal at all when I started the class, but when I got over the messiness of it, I started to like it. But I still like my graphite pencils more ^^
