What art program are you using?
What age were you aiming for when you drew the character?
I can give you some tips if you want but i am still learning myself so some of the stuff i say may turn out to be wrong.

My art teacher told me that the first thing you need to do before you start drawing is to figure out what you want to draw and then try and keep a clear as possible mental image of what you want to draw inside your head.
Judging from the image i would say this characters age is between 40-55. (due to the wrinkle marks near the mouth)
I would suggest trying out Krita it's a really versatile program and makes drawing stuff a lot easier. (try out the horizontal mirror mode then edit at the needed areas that you don't want to be symmetrical.....you will save a lot of time and frustration that way)
