Description

Humanity of LXVIII century has reached an incredible level of technological development and assimilation of the Milky Way. Mastering hundreds of worlds one after another, they moved through space, giving life and prosperity to the dead and empty worlds. Sometimes they even managed to meet worlds already inhabited by a complexly organized life, which they immediately studied with childish curiosity and passion for learning new things. But until recently, they have not been able to meet a single intelligent species, or even a trace of it.
That all changed after a group of 500 colonists in 6752 year arrived on a small rocky planet whose star system was located in a particularly distant part of the Orion Arm. It was not uncommon, but this planet had water and a favorable atmosphere that needed only the smallest correction. The planet also carried multicellular life, albeit incredibly poor by Earth's standards, even during its worst periods. Most of the biodiversity lived in shallow, warm, isolated oceans. On land, primitive plants were found, that looked like dense networks of filaments of a dull shade of ocher, low trees resembling telescopic pipes with needle-like leavesl. And some primitive animals, like small radially symmetrical mobile organisms that fed on dead organic matter.
After some time, during which the colonists expanded their settlements and explored the planet, they were able to find ruins sheltered by massive mountain plateaus and rocks. Strange, buried under a layer of soil, monolithic and elongated houses. They were decorated with strange intricate patterns, pretty worn out by time. Not many utensils have been preserved in these structures. But in some places it was possible to find objects, such as: a semblance of dishes, the purpose of which has not yet been clarified; simple tools for cutting rocks and other materials; and, most interestingly, books, most of which have decayed to the point of being unusable for reading.
But one of the copies was still able to survive, as it was in a sealed storage item of a rounded elongated shape. Apparently, this book was a kind of encyclopedia of the then living nature. The picture shows one of the pages of this manuscript (Reconstruction of a colored image, created by the best scientists of modern time). An image of an aquatic creature with which no similarities have been found in organisms currently living on the planet. It had a streamlined shape with a long tail decorated with many fins and had an elastic proboscis, something like the mouths of Earth's mollusks. Apparently, it was predatory, as it tried to grab a smaller creature, which vaguely resembled modern creatures that lived in the oceans of this planet. The book contained complex, untranslatable text consisting of complex symbols and letters.
This find gave impetus to the beginning of large-scale excavations and research to search for new finds and remains, and possibly the creators of these mysterious manuscripts and structures.
