My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on."

For a brief period in my life, I experienced objectification and degradation in the most extreme. But in spite of the humiliation I faced, I wore a smile under a layer of makeup and encased my bruised heart beneath a sexy dress and heels. For the sake of survival, I maintained a façade of confidence and control even though I was collapsing to pieces emotionally.
