Great design u have here for the Robin Redesign for SHOTM!
Hornestly when I first saw the design I didn't like it THAT much. It doesn't pop up as much as compared to Daniel Heard's version
HOWEVER the more I look at it the more it grows on me.
The detailing is amazing. Very pratical and realistic. Something that will fit in very well with Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series.

Thanks. I guess the design grows on people. I was really trying to break the mold with all the spandex. I think spandex and wearing underoos on the outside are remnants from the Strongmen back in the early circus days. If superheroes were invented today tights and capes would never fly with today's designers. I feel we're only okay with them as design aspects on superheros only, because we're used to seeing them. Really they seem very impractical. Not that fighting in a pea coat and tight jeans would be easier, but at least he looks better.
And yeah, the piece is a little old. I've been meaning to do teh rest of the Teen Titans, I already have them sketched out.

Somehow spandex costume has certain appeal. However it have to be more updated and practical. Many character designs that we see and remember are those in spandex. They are meant as an ispiration to the comic universe and us, the people reading it but as you mention they are not really relevant to the current real world we are living in. haha
Incidentally, I'm also working on Teen Titan Redesigning for the fun of it. But a different direction; gearing toward a sleeker, up-to-date spandex version.

I like it, it has a From-the-streets tough, and Urban, design. His actions make you know he means business but his dress makes you feel somehow comforted, like he's not giving you charity from on-high; he's from you level doing his thing
We need more hero designs like this. The only one close to this was cool Hobo-Batman

I happen to LOVE your version of Robin. He seems so much more true to character, and more like he belongs on the streets of Gotham. :]
