Description
**This edition of Scalawags for DA's Film Gallery Premiere**We had the wonderful opportunity to work alongside a handful of talented graduating music majors from USC the past winter, and as a result Scalawags now has its own beautiful score composed by David Stanton. This makes Scalawags a completely original piece, ready for film festivals!
*****************
From concept to completion this project took us 11 weeks to produce. We spent four weeks in pre-production and five weeks animating and compositing. One week at the end to enjoy our pizza and watch the movie.
. . .And maybe do some post audio work.
***Please visit our journal for more information regarding the production, and learn what software and techniques were used in the creation of this film.***

Coming soon to newgrounds. . .

Holy smokes, that's outstanding! That opening was REALLY original, and the overall design and concept was great! Sure, the animation could be smoothed out a little, but in being a student project, it's really top-notch!

This was fantastic! I would love to have had like a full TV show from this when I was a kid. I absolutely loved the transition in the beginning of the piece from a flat map to a three dimentional pirate world. Very smooth, and the colors were just so perfect. Kudos mate!

VERY professional!! I love it!!! o_O What school did you go to to get that sort of ability? Or is that a project you did all on your own without a school!?
MAN, you're good!!

Kudos on the original, very piratesque score. It's often overlooked, but it adds a lot of drama and makes the story flow quite nicely. I like my cartoons to have not only good 'toons but also good tunes!
Topping swank.

I can't agree more to most of the comments saying that it's right on the money for how a kid thinks. It's PERFECT.
I really hope to see something like this on Cartoon Network some day, the style is unique and eye-catching, the short itself could lend to an entire series! My son would TOTALLY watch that show if it were on the air - he's a huge pirate fan! I'd be right there with him.
I wish you all the best of luck with your art. This was fantastic! (And I hope some execs are around, watching this - you might just get your big break!)
