Description GDI: The Global Defense Initiative was a force designed to combine the resources and militaries of the most powerful nations of the world to defend the planet from invaders. Highly organized and rigidly disciplined, the GDI deploys elite troops around the world. Whether on land, sea, or air, they will defend humanity, whatever the cost!

UNSC: The United Nations Space Command is a military government with an army of elite marines and legendary Spartans who have defended the human race from invasions of both the Covenant and the Flood. No matter how unnumbered or outmatched, the forces of the UNSC have safeguarded mankind against total annihilation.

Now these two armies, each dedicated to protecting the earth, will face each other on the field of battle. Will the army that fought the Covenant across the stars be laid low by the Defense Initiative? Will the organization that kept the Scrin from destroying the earth be brought down by the UN's Space Command? Only time will tell, as the best and brightest of humanity unleash their greatest troops and weapons, all to find out once and for all...

WHO! IS! DEADLIEST!

*(Because I know this will pop up if I say nothing: No space battles. Planet-side only.)

(Disclaimer: Just to be clear, these two combatants were created / are owned by people far more creative / wealthier then me. I have made this, not for profit, but in the hopes of encouraging spirited discussion among fans. Please support the combatants official series. Thank you, that is all).

Well, I'd probably lean closer to UNSC.

GDI, because it's Ion Cannon Network can intercept alien spacecraft going at significant percentage of lightspeed and actually harm them... and the fucking fortresses that are it's cities and bases...

Oh and their equipment is designed to work in a death world where the Imperium of Man would think is absolutely fucking nuts.

GDI is competent, incredibly so by gaming standards or even the 'hard men doing hard decisions while hard' thing they're incredibly competent.

In every era, GDI wins against the UNSC due to superior armor, UNSC air units can be destroyed by anti air weapons common in GDI arsenal. Infantry would probably be equal, but Spartans would be a bit troublesome for GDI until they get wiped out by GDI armored vehicle.

What's stopping the SPARTANs from jacking a GDI armored vehicle?

You mean they hijack Covenant vehicles that are slow and have open air driver seat allowing their to be shot at ?

Compare that with GDI vehicles. You'll notice that no GDI vehicles have open air cockpit. Even Humvees, one of the most low tech vehicle used by GDI, have more protection than Covenant Ghost or UNSC Warthog.

cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Category:GD…

There are how many Spartans in total? there are probably not enough Spartans to engage the GDI in open combat, but spec ops missions might work. Depend on the condition of this versus match.

Cloaking and stealth technology likely wouldn't work against GDI since they have dealt with Nod stealth tactics several times and developed countermeasures.

The other problem is that the UNSC vehicle design are terrible. The Scorpion tank for their size have mediocre firepower. Warthog have open air driver seat. UNSC atmospheric aircraft are slow and lacking in firepower.

They also don't have indirect fire artillery, APC and air superiority fighter.

Also consider the fact that if we use C&C 4 GDI, Spartans are not game changers anymore since all GDI infantry wear heavier armor and use far more powerful weapons (automatic railgun) than Spartans.

If GDI vehicles are as awesome as you say they are, why do hijackers exist as in-game units? (SeeΒ cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Hijacker for details.) You're also hilariously ignorant of the 'Halo' universe- the UNSC has multiple aerospace fighters, including the Longsword ('Halo: Combat Evolved'), Sabre ('Halo: Reach'), and Broadsword ('Halo 4').

I don't even say GDI vehicles are awesome.Β I compare a Humvee to Covenant Ghost and also UNSC Warthog and I find both having less protection than modern US Humvee.

When the UNSC vehicle are already inferior to even modern US military vehicles ( which the GDI use at the beginning of the series), I doubt the UNSC can fight later GDI vehicles.Β Β

The Hijacker appear in C&C 4 that happens in 2077. Nod military technology in C&C 4 is far more advanced than the UNSC.

Nod Hijacker being able to hijack GDI vehicles don't mean Spartans would be as able to do the same.

The GDI, having to fight an enemy that develop their tech and adapt rather than remaining stagnant, should also give GDI an edge over the UNSC.

Compare the Nod Devout from C&C 4 to UNSC marine or even a Spartan.

All of those are starfighters and therefore count as spaceships, this versus match is planetside only.Β

In atmosphere, doesn't the UNSC use VTOLs like Hornets and Hawks ?Β

UNSC due the tech edge. Only played the first C&C game

GDI would need Tiberium to do pretty much anything, so they're already at a disadvantage.
However, GDI does have the Ion Cannon, mechs, and quite a few unique tools of war, and fast base construction.
The UNSC, to counteract, can just drop Spartans and ODSTs and hijack their base and tech, effectively assimilating GDI into the UNSC.

This would create the the GSDC (Global Space Defense Command!?), which would have the strengths of both, and the weakness of neither.
This would then make the Prophets realize that attacking humankind was a big. BIG. Mistake. Regret would Regret. Mercy would ask for Mercy. Turth would have to reveal the Truth.

Nope, GDI uses Tib only because it's convenient, their tech are as close to Creation Engine -i.e. create a tank from a wreck and a patch of dirtΒ within seconds- grade as you can fucking get outside Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising.

Well, UNSC also has orbital bombardment. It's just kinetic/explosive instead of ions.

Naw, man. GDI. The Galactic Defense Initiative.

OT: Yeah, UNSC win. The only thing I can think GDI clearly have over UNSC is the commando unit. And that whole Tiberium thing is a real, real problem.

Indeed. ADDENDUM: GDI (Galactic) would be mixed with GDI (Global).

Yeah, I have to give it to the UNSC. Β The GDI do pretty well with a decent source of Tiberium, but in a neutral area they'd have resource trouble. Β

UNSC have a bigger army and Spartans so I'm gonna go with them for this one.

UNSC.

In an all-out war this would fall to a war of attrition for the UNSC. GDI, have, what maybe an entire planet worth of soldiers at their peak? UNSC has that several times over. Better tech (assuming that GDI even have better tech) wouldn't do much when your opponent outnumbers you a hundred to one (something the vs Zerg debate taught me.) Plus the fact that they have thousands of Spartan-IVs (enough to make a new branch, anyway) that can match Spartan-IIs in their armor.

In a skirmish (even numbers, something like that), the UNSC still take it. The thousands of Spartan-IVs, the hundreds of Spartan-IIIs, and the few Spartan-IIs are enough to defeat any human army when combined with the rest of the might of the UNSC.
