Finished painting: [link]Yay it finally got done! Sooo glad it's out of the way though, it was such a pain. I wasn't really sure how much detail of what to put in, so I just covered the general basics of how I do semi-realism and a bit more.
Anyway, hope it's helpful or insightful! I'm pretty sure you'd be able to do almost everything there in any program. And yes, I use a tablet. Not a fancy Wacom Intuos 3 or anything, just a regular one I got at a computer market relatively cheaply.

What brushes do you use? Great tutorial, by the way! OH And I assume that you didn't put the line-art in the end, right? Love your work

Apologies for the super late reply! Not sure if you still want my answer, but ah well.
All of the brushes I used in this tutorial are round soft-edged airbrushes that can be found in most programs. Although now being more developed artistically, I use rougher textured brushes to give a more interesting surface.
And about the line-art, I usually keep it in, but set the mode to Multiply and lower the opacity depending on how much extra definition I want to give the figure's edges.

Oh my gosh you don't know how much I've learnt just by reading this tutorial. Even though I do not have photoshop or Corel Painter (I used GIMP xD) I could follow this really easily. Simply amazing ^_^ Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

Lawls, I just love it so much! I have photoshop elements that came with my graphics tablet, but...it's so confusing Dx and I've just grown so used to GIMP ^_^ It's a simple program, but I luurve it xD
