Music - All around us we hear it - the swish of breeze through the grass, the trill of birdsong, the babbling song of rivers and streams. What music makes up your esk's boundary? Is it animal song, the howl of arctic gales, the rattle of train tracks? Is it human music? Show or write about how music is part of your esk's world - either in their past or the present.

In the more remote reaches of Assateague Island there is minimal human sound, but the island is by no means quiet. There is a symphony of natural sound all around, the crashing of waves, the call of gulls, the titter of songbirds in the dunes and scrub pines, the shushing of wind through dune grasses and brush, and at certain times of the year the ethereal call of loons. Birdie is unsettled by some of the sounds, but drawn to others, but her memories are fractured and she doesn't really have a good explanation for the difference in how the sounds make her feel.

(personal note - this symphony occasionally gets into my head and I'll fall asleep to the residual memory of the sounds long after I'm off the island. White noise machines have nothing on Assateague.)
