Description
My dad took me to the cottage yesterday so I got a rare chance to get some outdoor photos. I think he enjoyed roaming freeBelltock is a OOAK (one of a kind) fantasy sculpture. He was entirely handmade, from polymer clay over wire and tin foil. He has inset hazel resin eyes, and his hair is hand dyed mohair. He was modelled after a Gypsy Vanner type horse.
He is about 8.5 inches tall from foot to ear tip. With the wings, he goes to about 14 inches to the tip of the wing.
The spine of the wings is sculpted from sculpey superflex. I then glued a sheet of fabric over the spines. Finally, I did several layers of acrylic, polymer glaze, and varnish to give the webbing a leathery finish. The wings are very light and flexible. Also, the wings are set on a brass rod which sits into a peg inserted into the horse's shoulders. So they are easily removed and put back in.
Belltock was a commission from ~BlackCurtains and is not for sale. He was a lot of fun to make. Thanks for looking!

You need wire, tin foil, and clay of some sort. I get wire at the hardware store (we have rona or home depot here, not sure about where you are). The clay doesn't matter much, everyone has different preferences. *Indigo-Ocean has a tutorial called "about clays" that is really helpful in explaining different brands. And she's from the uk so she might know more about what you can get over there. Other than that, whatever paint, sculpting tools, and hair you want to add. I always buy hair online (mohair-wig.com)

Oh woooow! Thanks for letting me know about the equipment.
I have a hobbycraft, which I can probably find all of these bits and pieces.
Also, thanks for the link to here DA!
She is very talented, and that tutorial seems very helpful.
Thank you again. Your help is really appreciated!

Thanks! Heh, I meant belltock, but my dad definitely enjoyed it too. He was running around by the lake with my camera like a kid in a candy store. I just got a dslr and his camera is some ancient thing my brother found in our ceiling so he was having fun.
