Love the last panel. Although, Yhatzee's "review" of Duke Nukem Forever does make me wish that it would come out (this is probably my favorite of his videos): [link]

In all honesty though, 3D Relms got what they deserved (seriously, it takes them this long to make a game). I'm not much into FPS games (there are exceptions), but even I know it would just be generic and dull. Considering we live in a world where First Person games like Bioshock, Half-Life and Metroid Prime exist, it's not going to bring anything new or exciting.

Indeed, Yahtzee's review really made it more evident that 3D Realms played the biggest joke ever to the gaming industry, I would love to see a in depth documentary about what exactly happened within that company walls. And yes, in a world were Valve and Bungie exist, 3DRealms' games became redundant.

and too bad, since the stuff they had already finished looked pretty good

Man, so many games went down in their prime, including good ol' Duke and the others down at the last panel. I wonder if anyone is selling the rights...

I know you can get Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 legally for PC at gog.com for $5,99 [link] plus a bunch of extras. As for Gex and Bubsy, I don't believe many people think highly of them for anyone to care about the rights.

In their case, it's more "would have, could have, should have."

But they really have no excuse, they blew it and still refuse to this day to acknowledge that they were incapable of producing a good product within a reasonable amount of time. They deserve to be sued for their utter incompetence.

Oh well. I often wonder how they were able to get the money to keep their project afloat. If you ask me, I'd say this has been a very sick joke on their part.

I saw that God Mode comic, yeah, they wish they were one tenth of the developer Bungie is! Oh sure, it was going to release on 2010 for PC and XBOX360, and I also bet the person who speaks on behalf of 3DRealms is really good and making plants grow by only talking to them, because everything that comes out of his mouth is BULLSHIT!!!

Well they lived a good life until now. XD
I wonder what would happen if they really would finish Duke Nukem Forever...

scificat In reply to The-First-Ace [2009-08-14 16:06:11 +0000 UTC]

Personally, I don't care anymore. Whatever they have at this point is just a mediocre FPS. (12 freaking years!!! and nothing to show for it, not even a beta to let the fans play it) In a world where Half Life 2 and COD Modern Warfare exist, I don't see a need for this game. And it isn't as if crude, simplistic Shoot-Everything-In-Sight FPS games have come out since Duke Nukem 3D. Serious Sam is almost the same style of character and Painkiller does the job as well. If i ever want to relive those days I'll just download Duke Nukem 3D off GOG [link] .

The-First-Ace In reply to scificat [2009-08-14 16:13:04 +0000 UTC]

Well that is indeed true, but still the game is a legend already, IF someone would finish it it sure would sell a lot. Just to see it, even if it sucks. XD

I guess so, there are plenty of masochistic people out there, I don't care about the game but I would love to see a documentary about this with interviews of all the people that were involved in this mess over the years and find out the truth behind this whole downfall.

Yes they did, just look how many amazing FPS games have come out the last decade alone. What makes me completely bonkers is that 3D Realms did release PREY which they started development RIGHT AFTER Duke Nukem Forever!
