Pulled up short.

Dr Beth Reed gasps as she’s pulled up hard against her already stretched umbilical. Trapped outside her crippled science module on the ISS, opening the hatch to the supply module is her only hope. The air in her helmet is already getting thin as the emergency supply from her module’s lock is used up and her emergency escape suit isn’t designed for the harsh vacuum of space. She swears in fear and frustration, the release handle barely centimetres from her padded glove, the thick material of her suit crinkling as it becomes a deflated bag, her salvation now her tomb. She lunges again trying not to gulp at the last of her air as her visor fogs but it’s just out of reach. Does she unplug in a bid to reach the airlock release and risk instant decompression … and the possibility the escaping pressure will blow her into space? Already her head is spinning, the frantic back and forth between the station and control becoming a muted blur as the atmosphere in her helmet becomes incapable of carrying sound,the only noise her own frightened exhalations and the long sucking inhalations as she prepares to pull her hose.
