Description Arrr!!!   Well, greetings from the sea, here's Salty. My first diesel engine and I think it's a reasonable result. Due to lack of time, final exams, etc. I worked on this model every now and then rather than all at once.
Well guys, what's your opinion?

Quite impressive! I wish they were selling these when I was younger.

Thanks! They never made these, it's just a design. But it is buildable, so theoretically you could order the parts and build it.

No, I know that this is an MOC. I meant to say that I wish they could have done something like this.

There actually was an engine quite similar to that one: brickset.com/sets/7760-1/Diese…
Lego probably wasn't known as widely as it is now though.

Only nitpick: the roof is supposed to be Black. Nevertheless, you did him quite well, and I didn't expect him from you.

Yeah you're right. Just updated the model and changed it here. I'll see what's next to come, I'm pretty slow in producing models right now, but you might see something real from me within the next months

Nick, you have outdone yourself again!!!!    Salty looks absolutely fantastic!!  And do I see cranks on the coupling rods?  It may only for the coupling rods to be connected but they look really cool!!  I finished up some cool stuff and I want to see what you think!  And I hate to ask because you've done so much for me, but I'd love to add Salty to my Lego collection; would you be willing to give me the instructions? Everything you make is outstanding!!  I hope finals went well   I can't wait to see what is next!!

Thanks  Yes those are cranks, it's kinda weird how I attached the wheels on this model, and it's hard to explain as well. How are you doing? Feel free to upload your stuff here, even if it's just work in progress shots. I'm really interested to see what you have

Amazing Lego salty . He looks very true to his design in the show.

Thanks! At first I used reference pictures of a BR 07 shunter and even had it painted BR dark green. Eventually I changed the livery to create Salty

The very bottom plate, the 4x12 or so, I don't really think it fits. Appears to be more structural than anything, I'd think with just a 2x12 down the center would be well hidden enough.
This still LDD? You really do well playing with illegal connections!

Well, these are actually 1x4 plates with 2 studs www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.…
I used that piece as I didn't build the wheels how I'd normally build them. But that can be changed (and I would change it).
When it comes to illegal techniques there aren't too many in this picture, but it just looks better

looking good, even like that Salty could fit into the real world

Yep! When designing Salty I just took a BR 07 shunter as a Prototype, that's why it looks like a real engine. Also there is quite a similar engine -> www.flickr.com/photos/11700678…
