Scott I LOVE this image! Very beautiful model and image!
I would call it an "Informal, formal image" meaning, she looks dressed up, but her hair and such aren't done up as much as I would expect. I think this image would have looked just as good, with her in jeans and a t-shirt! She is very beautiful, I love the shape of her face too!

nice subject..great lips and eyes.would be really niceto se how she would look with real modelling light..like a norman, speedotron, or similar flash with bank light, kiss light, and for her face shooting a 90 degree split light..or a 45 degree Kiss light on cheek ( puts a nice triangle on the cheek-bone.and drops the rest of one cheek into a shadow..and depending on the distqnce of the lights can be 1:2 1:3 lighting for normals..and up to 1:6 getting into the dramatic lighting. What you've got here.is excellent repoire with the model photographer relationship comfort zone..and in getting really excellent expressions..add real lighting to that.and wow.....We all used to have to monster Black Line Speedotrons..and later on 2 Norman 2000 ws generators and 6 heads....But today these Alien Bee.....and White Lightning, or Comet self contained 400 ws flash units are superb for location photography...Even one Alien Bee...fired from a remote slave on the camera..can do incredible things..the AB being the real "modelling light"..and the on camera flash...being for "fill".. I might even get an Alien Bee..as they are so well respected now.....Bee good bzzzzzzz

Hehe yeah sounds good but unfortunately the choice in Australia of lighting is fairly restrictive and expensive for hobby photogs like myself. I have a few wish list items but my bank account doesn't quite allow them yet. In the meantime i will continue to improvise with my single tripod mounted remote triggered canon flash bouncing off walls or whatever. Because my true love is outdoor model shoots with natural light this might continue for quite a while hehe!

Oh yes ! I've seen some of the outdoor shoots you have in your gallery.and where daylight and shadow can be balanced carefully so...and just requiring a fill light to be as a "kicker" light to the highlights or filling in the shadows just a touch..works..is perfect.Outdoors..I take a big old Braun F900 circa 1980 flash..that I had rebuilt with new batteries and capacitors. Its 200 watt seconds..and has a diffusion reflector that mounts above it...Its very powerful..and works by its self..or firing remote with a little peanut slave trigger oiff my on camera flash.and does a great job....I no longer have a lighting powerpack set-up...The ones I used.belonged to the studio's I worked for....But if I were to get a single self enclosed unit for around $300.00 or less..It would be an Alien Bee..or a White Lightning !..Both sell as a kit with case, stand, and umbrella, and 15 foot flash cord etc..on ebay..and many shipped out of Hong Kong..which I would think..would be closer to you..that to east coast USA..
