Description My history with Bionicle dates all the way back to its beginning and to this day it is the one toy I have the fondest memories of, I grew up with the staples of childhood like He-Man, Transformers, G.I.Joe and a few others but Bionicle and to some extent Lego in general is the one thing that has stayed with me to this day, the relationship I have with this lego theme is too ingrained in me to ever let up, so gather round friends and let me tell you my tale... of Bionicle.

My first set I got was none other than Tahu himself, the poster boy so to speak of the franchise and with that I was hooked, I then later on got the rest of the Toa but not Pohatu or any of the Rahi. Bionicle is the only franchise I know of to have the most complex, mysterious and intriguing story line of all time, the advertising for these things was down right mesmerizing and even a little creepy (for me anyway). www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk47ED…

With the following years I got a plethora of sets, but I can recall ones I never seemed to get, Makuta Teridax, the Metru Nui titans, most of 2005, 2006 titans and most of the Toa Ignika (I later got them in parts but that was years later), got most of 2007 excluding a few special sets, got a lot of 08 with again no titans and absolutely nothing from 09, I was going through that phase of "I might be getting too old for toys" when a store clerk age shamed me for buying Bakugan toys (remember those) and I would then gather all of 2010, for one because it was the easiest and two that was the last Bionicle wave ever, the series that I cherished most was ending and I was disapponinted and saddened but I didn't let it get to me unlike most others, Bionicle had a hell of a run and I enjoyed every second of it, from playing with the Toa, watching Mask of Light like a druggy likes drugs, having a blast with the 06-08 figures and the level of articulation they came with and then celebrating the legacy with the Bionicle Stars, others felt like they ended it on a pathetic whimper but to me it felt like a somber goodbye with a nostalgic, loving, resentful, melancholic smile looking back and I will always cherish it for that......

Then it got rebooted...

I'll save that for later but during this down time I began to experiment with my pieces I had access to and I began to do what the community calls "MOCing", M.O.C basically stands for "My Own Creation" and it means you create something new with the pieces you have, most of my MOCs have what the community calls an "Ignika Build", it basically means that they all share a similar building structure but that's not a bad thing so long as the story behind them is good and I gave EVERY new character a story. It may sound kind of silly but I played with Bionicles until I was out of high school but as pathetic as that sounds in that time I was actually building up my character writing skills, my characters weren't just simple self inserts or Mary Sues with no flaws whatsoever, my characters had some real depth to them and they grew as I grew as an individual.

For example I had the 2008 Mistika Toa Tahu and in my universe that was the main Tahu but then when the Stars came out I made THAT Tahu Tahu Prime, so what about the old one? Well I turned him into an artificial intelligence given life through Tahu's old body, acting as a shell for him to inherit once Tahu left that body to form his Stars self, so the new Tahu robot was called T-100 and he became a leading member of the Toa's Soldier unit along with another character who went from Matoran to full grown Toa size who had a fascination with swords, the "soldier" unit being there for when the Toa aren't available for other missions, with Tahu Prime looking at the life filled shell thinking it was a disgrace or an abomination but later on they work together and save each others lives which would then form a newfound respect for one another. I know it sounds very cheesy but this is what I was coming up with when playing with these fucking things and that's only one example, in my universe I had a very nature vs. technology theme but it was flipped, the GOOD guys used technology creating all kinds of weapons, robot forces, vehicles and tools to aid in the fight and the BAD guys were sticking to traditional, natural methods with horrid creatures born from the earth and later enhanced by either mad science or mystical powers because of coarse Toa vs. Makuta after all, with an overall theme of science creating order and chaos with questions regarding which is the right method.

I could go on and on about the world I created but I wanna talk about some of the MOCS I decided to draw for this image.
Jaller Mahri is my favorite set of all time, it gave me my love for giant swords and he was the one character I constantly revamped and worked on while keeping a similar build to the official set, he had many MANY phases of development, early on around the time the movie "Predators" was coming out I turned Jaller into a Predator (sounds horrible out of context) because his mask, not for nothing looks like a Predator mask, I gave him various arm blades, shoulder cannon, staff, all that shit. Later on when I was a weeb for Kingdom Hearts I gave him a keyblade and that didn't last too long, I then wrote it out as him combining his keyblade with his main sword into his ultimate weapon; the Flame Saber. His rival however was the leader of a bounty hunter group called "The Mercenaries", the leader being T-90 (the one drawn next to Jaller), he too went through a number of designs from being stumpy to having a massive frame but he didn't change all that much, once I found the main form that's what stuck aside from adding other parts to him or replacing some (fuck those lime green pieces from 07-08). former Toa comrades separated by fate since T-90 rebelled against Toa tradition. Fire and Lightning being two nice contrasting elements, also creating contrast was that Jaller was better with the sword and not raw elemental casting while T-90 was the opposite, preferring to use his powers over a blade. The little Matoran dude is just a random matoran I grew fond of, using a build I don't own but I think it's the best matoran build, not to knock some very elaborate matoran builds but if your matoran are taller than the 2001 Toa Mata then you have a problem.
Right above is one of the main bad guys, Queen Ventrax, a character that went through multiple designs as well with her current one being the result of her fusing with one of her creations giving her the power to control fire. Bottom line she was a sexy Rahkshi MOC with a tall, curvy figure with Nuva buttcheeks instead of boobs but she has Rahkshi tits instead because those were the only smooth round pieces I had for her chest, oh and she has high heels, can you tell a teenager made her?

Around 2015 I get news that Bionicle is coming back and I had very mixed feelings towards it, on one hand cool but on the other I came to terms that Bionicle was dead but I have the sweet memories to always cherish and the reboot kind of spat in my face in a sense, G1 Bionicle's death brought people together like a death of a loved one should and getting a reboot felt cheap and dishonest since the audience wasn't there this time since we already got burned by one death so the other was inevitable, while the sets were cool looking that death was immanent, got two out of its three waves out there and it was done, never even got a chance to buy one of these dudes and they're gone, I checked on ebay for some of them and their prices are insane, for a dead theme it sure brought out the scalpers, surprising since it seemed like it was always on clearance for next to nothing.

Nowadays I think Bionicle is going to stay dead for good this time and let it, it had the best run a toy line could of asked for with movies, books, video games, posters, other collectibles and a fan base to love every bit of it, hopefully Lego keeps Bionicle alive through acknowledging it's impact and legacy and not off handed jabs, I love Lego Movie but fuck that scene wear Wildstyle discusses other themes and their "insignificance", yeah without Bionicle you wouldn't even exist you goth, lesbo toothpaste. Well I rambled for too long now and if you made it through to the end then I hope you enjoyed the insight of my past and history.... with the Bionicle. (Mask of Light is low key gold fight me)

There's nothing pathetic about keeping in touch with what you like and building as you wish. There is a big lego community out there- have fun with whatever you wish!

I know but it's still a little cheesy, glad you read the wall of text though.
