Description
I am home again after a week and some days absence, and a few thousand miles more on the odometer. I spent some time on top of a mountain, some time in a valley, and most of the time painting and sketching. I did a few acrylic paintings on wooden boards salvaged from a dumpster. This one is based on a few photos I took while learning to drive a dogsled and wrangle dogs a couple years ago.11.5"x24" acrylic on wood.
(You can see a couple more over on my art-blog or my LiveJournal .)
Anyhow, I am back again and have a few things in mind to work on for AnthroCon, some emails to get back to, a couple loose ends to tie up, and the time (and stable Internet) to start digging into a few of those Hogwarts badges. Later today, I'll be posting the official Across Thin Ice release announcement! Stay tuned!

I really love this piece. This is one of those cases when you can't get the picture away from your mind, when it tells you, paint me, try acrylics too.
This is amazing because it's both very realistic and arty. Those strokes of snow on the bottom makes it very lively.
Aw, thanks for sharing this one

May I ask where you learned to drive a dogsled, or if the mushers were Norwegian? Since he's named Trondheim

Of course! I learned in northern Minnesota. The kennel where I learned had 40 some dogs, and one litter of them had Norwegian inspired names. :]

Trondheim? I thought you were in Norway, since it's name of well known winter cities of norway!
I like how background is more paintery and less detailed where it gives better focus on dog's head. Like photographic effect, which we call "bokeh"

And I just hav'ta ask, why'd ya call this piece Trondheim? I'm just wondering since I live in Norway, and it's a Norwegian city (Wow, thank you captain Obvious xD) But yeah, were you in Norway when you learnt to drive a dogsled?
Again, it's a really awesome piece of work you got here, I like it very much n_n
