Description
She is a cow. Do not eat her, oh ham-bun of evil badness! ;_;The meat industry is HORRENDOUS. Not only does it make animal's lives miserable, but it exploits humans as well. If you don't believe me, watch this , or Fast Food Nation (or read the book!).
I am veggie, and my morals do not allow for eating animals. In general, I do not kill things. And I wish other people didn't either. But if that's your thing, if you eat meat and you like it, then cool. Whashtever.
I am also veggie because I think that when applied correctly, it is an incredibly healthy lifestyle. MAJOR PROPS, congrats, and well-wishes of luck to ~Terin who recently joined the veggie ranks for this reason

Love the coloring, it's gorgeous! <3
By reading the description I decided to check out that video link. I... was absolutely horrified. D: I had no idea animals were treated THAT badly in slaughter houses. I never liked meat much to begin with but that just finalized the deal for me, I'm going vegan. There is just no excuse for animals being treated that way. ;_;

Eee, thank you! I sent in for that free beginner kit for starter veggies and am hoping that helps a bit.
Also need to find cheap/good soy milk & tofu.

Hehe, I was veggie before I found that site, so I've never seen the beginner kit
but I hope it helps
As for cheap soy milk and tofu, most stores have started to carry store brands of soy milk, and tofu is rarely ever more than $2 (Safeway usually has brands for $1.50, sometimes on sale for $1.39). Although, I will warn you about the store brand soy milks--I have never found on that I liked Most of them are okay at best. Silk is my favorite brand, and it's not too expensive, definitely not the most expensive brand out there.
Oh yes--and you will discover, beans and rice are your best friend You can also vary up bean-and-rice dishes by throwing in various vegetables--try tomatoes in black-eyes peas, black beans and onions, or make a up a veggie chili with several bean combinations, tomatoes, olives, etc
It's also really easy to use beans as a substitute in meat dishes; try dark red kidney beans in spaghetti sauce, topped with steamed broccoli. As a side note, the darker the bean, (usually) the more iron and protein it has.
Speaking of which. Take multi-vitamins and b-12. ESPECIALLY the B-12. Cutting all animal products leaves you without a source of B-12, and b-12 deficiency is a nasty thing.

Thank you for all the advice! I am going to try looking for a brand of soy milk that I like. I just this morning picked up some veggie burgers and some vegetarian soup with lots of beans and some rice. x3 I'm going to also be looking into recipes with a lot of yummy vegetables in them. I will also try to make that spaghetti you talked about, it sounds really yummy. +_+!
And, I have the One-a-Day vitamins, and I checked the label and they do have b-12, so I hope that's alright for multi-vitamins. xD

Awesome! Weee, how exciting
About the multivitamins: B-12 is one of those vitamins that is really hard for your body to absorb, so some vegans (especially athletes) take additional B-12 tablets, which I would recommend if you are going to be very active or participate in sports. Since my husband and I are both cyclists, we opt to take additional B-12 But if you don't have a highly active lifestyle, the multivitamins you have will be fine

That cow is just so freaking adorable. I want to run up and pinch her thighs and rub my face in her hair.
I must molest my meat, not eat it. ]:
xDD But I really like this. It makes a statement and it's artistically beautiful <3

Reeeeeeeeeally loving your new style that isn't anime. I can almost tell that you're enjoying it more and it seems more pleasing to look at anyways. The swirlies make me happy ^_^ But anyways while not technically a vegetarian I certainly do not eat cows partially for this reason and partially also because I think the way that they are raised make them seem... oh I don't know, disgustingly fattening. If I even as much as try to eat cow - especially ground beef - I feel sick. So definate props from a possibly hypocritical half-vegetarian xD

It is cute. And personally i love vegetarians. That means less demand for meat so companies can spend more money on giving the animals proper lives and therefore I get better meat.

scrum-yummy In reply to YunaHellsing [2007-03-17 14:52:32 +0000 UTC]
Well, that's an interesting view. I can honestly say I haven't heard that one before.
Even though there are more vegetarians than ever before, the demand for meat (and CHEAP meat, at that) is still so high, which is one reason why they treat the animals like that--it all has to do with getting out the "product" in a fast and inexpensive way.
If you want good meat, even though it is more expensive, organic meat is better. Make sure it's USDA certified though, or you are getting gyped
