Description
Bombadire: widely used in the middle ages as war-monsters, these creatures are a true rarity in today's monster arenas. They are seen as a novel but impractical "antique", constructed and trained only by wealthy traditionalists. Indeed, as one of the first monsters to incorporate a rifle, they require a good deal more maintenance, loading time, and outdated materials (gunpowder) for most modern tastes. In the hands of a devoted owner, however, the Bombadire can be every bit as formidable as they were on bygone battlefields.Jennyvex: another "witch" like the Banshe or Bagayaba, their comical appearance belies one of the most cold and wicked minds in the monster kingdom. Like their aforementioned brethren, they utilize psionics to induce terrible maladies on those who cross them (even their own masters, when mistreated) from aches and boils to mental breakdown, and take pleasure in watching the results. They seem to lose control of themselves under the full moon, leaping and twirling in circles until dawn.
Q-lex: a fusion between a female human and mosquito (males do not survive the process, and wouldn't be as useful anyway). The Q-lex lacks the agility and incredible leap of the Heartsucker (a more popular flea-based hybrid) but is larger and much stronger. It is attracted to stagnant water, but like other monsters, only a tiny percentage of Q-lex are capable of reproduction, and in this case, only through Parthenogenesis.
Abysmal: two creatures functioning as a single entity, the Abysmal consists of an eerie piscoid predator (always female) able to float through air as easily as through water, and a humanoid "lure" (also female) with a mind of its own and a powerful hypnotic voice. Women are immune to the Abysmal's call, but males (human, animal or monster) wander straight into the gaping jaws of the "feeding body", which prefers to eat only the head of its prey. Like many monsters, the lure is capable of normal communication, but always maintains that she is merely one "half" of the whole creature, neither mind taking precedence over the other. An Abysmal can sometimes reproduce itself by budding, but the tadpole-like larva, fully aquatic, does not sprout a lure until fully grown.
Bonnagander: the origin of these exceedingly bizarre creations is not known, and few have even heard of them to begin with. Considered by many to be truly "evil" monsters, they seem to somehow "feed" on the pain of others, and generate an insidious telepathic miasma that causes intense mental anguish in their enemies. Gentle music seems to entrance them, but this intensifies their negative aura seemingly beyond their own control. An unseen Bonnagander can drive an entire orchestra to madness, happily swaying to the music even after it degenerates into screams and wails.
Thole: defective monster. Emits a pleasant flutelike melody but with a pungent odor. Its flesh has the consistency and texture of wood, oddly freezing to the touch.

I wonder why those never made it into mortasheen, it's such a nice design, and could have served a seprate role than most monsters, perhaps mortasheens equivelent of a mobile MP3 player?

Abysmal is pretty similar to a creature in "Superjail!"
But this drawing was first XD

Well, it's also similar to what a real anglerfish looks like

Come to think of it... How many monsters for Mortasheen have you made?

Probably over 200 something by now, counting a few that I don't use anymore and some I've yet to even draw.

Abysmal reminds me of the lady Scylla, one of my favourite mythical creatures.

I came back to check on your art, and I noticed you updated a whole load of them. I really like Bombadire, personally. Are you thinking of updating Bombadire, by chance?

Woah.
This series (at this point I assume it's part of a series) finally does something more unique with the catchable/tameable/battleable monster genre and I like it!
The designs are great, as is the detail (and you have to use a lot of detail to make things as menacing and eerily fearsome as these.)

I'm hoping to make some sort of actual game out of it one day, just some sort of free online thing.

i like it how you can draw whatever you feel like drawing, and then make it into a monster and make up all this stuff. your imagination must really like you.

Jennyvex reminds me of the lamp (aka "major award") from 'A Christmas Story'.

The Thole reminds me of an imaginary faceless, long-snouted Chinese monk thingy that I imagined lived in the bathtub when the lights were off in the room. The Abysmal has a good concept behind it, though I wonder what makes it "female" if it reproduces assexually.

Radness, but one correction is needed. The Bombadire's armament, if it uses shot, is not a rifle. To be a true rifle, it would need a rifled bore. If the armament is a cannon or blunderbuss, it's most likely sm0othbore, however some cannon do have rifled bores. Given the size of the creature, the weapon is most likely a blunderbuss, the ancestor of the shotgun. The name "blunderbuss" means "thunder gun." Some had flared horn-like muzzles. Some didn't. The purpose of the flared muzzle was to make it easier to load. Also, a wad was placed between the shot and the gunpowder. A modern shotgun shell incorporates all of these (powder, wad, and shot) into a self-contained cartridge. Modern wads are plastic and fall away after firing. The old ones were cloth and disintegrated when the shot was fired. Without the wad, the shot wouldn't hold together very well.

I wound up using "rifle" instead of "firearm" or "gun" because the latter sounded too modern, and the former sounded odd when it's part of a monster's face. I'll probably fix it later

You specified that it takes shot and powder, which would indicate that it's a sm0othbore muzzleloader that takes shot like a shotgun, which would make it a blunderbuss of demented do0m.

ultra rad! you know, there is a strange coincidence here.. Before I showed you my last sketches I had come up with a lot more of those and two of them were: A mosquito monster and an anglerfish monster! My anglerfish version had the upper half of the woman on the angler. My mosquito..sucked
I agree with Daimera, Bonnagander is creepy cool.

Well anglerfish and tiny nude sirens go together like peanut butter and more peanut butter!
(I'm not much of a jelly fan)
And yeah, Bonnagander is directly based on Bosch's style, though I didn't use any actual parts from his demons. There were a couple more bosch-like monsters I designed but most of them didn't seem like they fit in with necromon.

Abysmal is the only one here you hadn't shown me beforehand, and looks great! The others are awesome, as I've said. I think I like Bonnagander the most of this bunch.
