Description And this is why some characters didn't return from Brawl! Killager got to them first! Gasp! I opted not to include the non-returning characters from Melee, since it made the piece too cluttered. This was my first time trying a relatively monochromic coloring style, mixed with some comic-style hashmarking and dot thingies. I think the water could use some work as well, but hopefully next time I'll find a better way to tackle it!

Also the "Killager Comes to Town" part was manually drawn in, not text. And here they villager/killagers are using a hidden stick (like the hidden blade) and an axe from Assassin's Creed. It seemed fitting enough.

This is part of a challenge piece set for the theme "A seaside beach with at least three non-chibi humanoid subjects interacting together and expressing fright."

Other people doing the challenge piece:

izziraw WIP
MiniMM WIP
marmiz WIP

I don't think there's too much blood, but let me know if this should have a mature filter on it in case it does.
Thanks to MiniMM and marmiz for all kinds of advices while drawing this!

Such a delightful piece!!  Wait, is delightful the right word?  'Tis  the only one that comes to mind though...  As always it's nice to see the piece come together after seeing all the different brainstorms!  And then... This.  Poor, delightful cut (literally) Smuush characters.  Although, they added in some strange ones as we've discussed.

And how did you feel about the hashmarks?  I'm really glad you've included them.  Was it difficult?  And what program did you use for this?  As always, what aspects of this do you feel you're most likely to reuse?  And I personally don't think it needs a mature filter.  Afterall, we all know Nintendo characters don't bleed, they sparkle!!  Something keeps telling me I am choosing the wrong words, but I can't seem to see where...

And lastly, for a piece supposedly about fear, those Killagers seem awfully happy...  Lovely (frightening) job as usual!

Delightful is the most perfect word for this! Look how happy the children are! The children are the future! The future is for glory! For glory means the sweetest miasma shall be sown unto the earth, and so everyone shall sparkle! No no, you are not choosing the wrong words at all. I see nothing but truth here! Totes hushtug notmeeraj. Everyone cut (literally? figuratively? all of the above!) from the roster is cut (don't run with scissors kids!) because they could not appreciate the sparkling miasma! They would have sided with YOU! Oh the dread! The time displaced teachers and bears of ancient lore would haunt us for minutes to come!

Yes, this piece went through quite a few changes huh? It looks completely different now, though the color scheme is largely the same. I didn't use as much bright red as I thought I would and it ended up looking more muted and like the coloring those free manga samples come in if you've seen them. Your piece on the other hand stayed largely similar, minus the crab and tidal waves! Quite different from the rainy city piece, which really look on some massive changes! Are you pretty much finalized on your abstract mealwings piece as well?

The hashmarks for this weren't as difficult, I think partially because this is more or less monochrome and it fits right in. I think it is when I incorporate it into fully colored pieces, then it really stands out and looks kind of off, though I have seen it pulled off beautifully. I used SAI for this. I do plan to use Manga Studios for the abstract meal piece though, since the brushes for lineart are way better there, and I think it'll be very lineart heavy. Aside from using the carcicature style, I also want to make the shading and colored parts look like henna tattoos, but I don't know if that will be far too messy.

I am so glad you made the children so huppy!!  And thanks for letting me know that "delightful" is the proper word!  I was voted most wordsmith afterall!  And you shouldn't see the truth in what I say for I am da bad boiz!!!

Yeah, my piece stayed largely the same.  There were more things I could work with in this one than the last.  Yours on the otherhand was like mine last time!!  Do you normally go through that many drafts?  For my abstract piece I am not finalized.  I mentioned it in text to you, but your drawing threw me for a loop and I wanna do it too!!  I have a couple of ideas, but not sure where to take it...  Only time will tell...  Because I won't!!!

Yeah, I also think hashmarks tend to look better with more monochrome or flat shading.  Looks lovely here as well.  Ah, and SAI.  I need to try that again to see how I like it.  And as I've told you, probably too many times, I can't wait to see your surreal piece!  Even if it changos I have an original copy that I won't share with anyone!!!

Not only was a dictator of voting club, I was also dictator of the wordsmith club too! I don't need to see the trooth because I knowz it!

Indeed, ours did kind of switch huh, in that yours stayed almost the same this time but mine changed oodles!

If you do use that surreal Mallio style, I would love to see what your approach is! It is fun to see what people do with the same style and theme, even though they turn out so differently! Only Time will tell? What a scrooge Time is, no doubt influenced by YOU and those time-displaced professors! I shan't be getting anything out of Time! Looks like I'll have to employ those Great Grandma Busty Butt Bears to wrestle some answers out!

I can't wait to see my surreal piece too! When that is happening, I don't know, but when it does, it shall be real! Yeah! I'm liking the idea of using Cooking Mama more and more, since I can put in stuff like shrimp and abalone and that looks like they will be right at home with the surreal theme, more so than just roasted assorted mushrooms and candies at least! And gasp, you have the original copy?! It's sold out everywhere! I called Gamestahp and Tarjeh so many times but oh woe is I, it was out of stock as soon as it got off the truck!

Hail dictator wordsmith club partners!!  I don't need to see da trooth either since I'll have you give it to me!!

I don't think I'm using your exact style since I don't want to incorpasteal your style.  Plus, I don't think I could pull it off like yours.  I really want to in the future though.  And unfortunately you can't wrestle information out of Time.  All you can wrestle out of Time is utots!

I have a style I want to use now, but I haven't been able to figure out how to actually tackle it.  It is super difficult to actually approach it!  Do you have any further concept art for Cooking Mama?  I'd love to see how that's progressing!!

And I'm waiting to sell that original copy for da monies!!  Then I'm gonna eat da monies!!!  And I raid those trucks for those copies!!  Only I can have it!  Except when I sell it for da monies.  Can I sell it for da monies?  Please?  Do you wanna share it?  You can eat some too!!

Whale yes yes, all hail! You most certainly do not need da trooth whale dictator wordsmooth club lord is around!

No, I don't have any further concept art for Cooking Mama unless you count a few doodles I did on my notes. They're not really clear to see anything though. I would like to have a egg, chicken, various vegetables, noodles, and a shrimp skewer in there if they fit. Since she doesn't have a mustache, I don't think she'll look quite as uh... beautiful as Mallio, but I suppose the main focus of the piece of the food anyways. Is your style still the same for the piece, or has it evolved?

An investor! A scalper! A both! I heard that the monies diet is very trendies now, since it's so green. Everybody is joining in with the green movement! They're really fellin' it! I heard it cures encephalitis! The Fell House brand is especially potent so they say. Time told me so! Or was it YOU? Sometimes I get them mixed up you know? They carry themselves very similarly and have the same way of talking.

Muahahaha! Ages 10 and up you say? Now all the 92 year olds shall be scarred for life after viewing their beloved characters dancing in raspberry jelly! How vulgar and unbecoming of children these days! It shall be my revenge on those nursing homes who denied me entry! They were totes jealous of my wi-fi enabled peg leg and emerald dentures!

(Haha jesting in turn )

Oh... You'd have to play and beat Mother 3 to get that one then.

Which I highly recommend to do.

Haha thanks! I never really could get into turn-based games, but my sister loves them so I'll recommend it to her.

I don't like turn-base either, but the Mother series is one of those special exceptions for me. Maybe it's the modern setting, I find the medieval fantasy setting absolutly boring.

ScythicKitty In reply to Beastgods [2015-01-12 07:07:38 +0000 UTC]

The modern setting does certainly help. I remember enjoying that aspect of Earthbound (though I never finished it), and also FFVII since it was different from the typical medieval setting (I do enjoy that as well, but it is so common that there's not a lot of innovation seen in games that take place around that time) and allowed for a lot of setups and events to happen that normally wouldn't in another era. While I doubt I'll ever get around to Mother 3 with my backlog of games, my sister would probably enjoy it quite a bit.
