Description
And this is why some characters didn't return from Brawl! Killager got to them first! Gasp! I opted not to include the non-returning characters from Melee, since it made the piece too cluttered. This was my first time trying a relatively monochromic coloring style, mixed with some comic-style hashmarking and dot thingies. I think the water could use some work as well, but hopefully next time I'll find a better way to tackle it!Also the "Killager Comes to Town" part was manually drawn in, not text. And here they villager/killagers are using a hidden stick (like the hidden blade) and an axe from Assassin's Creed. It seemed fitting enough.
This is part of a challenge piece set for the theme "A seaside beach with at least three non-chibi humanoid subjects interacting together and expressing fright."

I don't think there's too much blood, but let me know if this should have a mature filter on it in case it does.
Thanks to MiniMM and marmiz for all kinds of advices while drawing this!

That's true! I hadn't thought of that. I was originally mainly aiming for the older, cheap comic book style, though it definitely also fits the Flipnote style.

Agreed! One of my good friends main Ice Climbers, and was really disappointed they weren't in Smash 4. It'll be fun guessing who will return and what newcomers there will be as the release date gets closer! I'm really looking forward to seeing what remixes of music they will do!

I pretty much said all my thoughts on this pic to you already over messages, so please forgive me for all the possibly redundant, simple comments. (maybe I should save what I type before, so I can spend less time struggling to put thoughts to words and proofreading what I typed 3x's+ when majority of what I think hasn't changed from before)
The font looks so professional. I still can't believe you hand drew it! Poor beaten up pokemon trainer and his pokemons. That's a lot of blood he's losing (I don't think this amount of blood is worth the mature filter but where the blood is located and the amount of implied violence is) Killager looks so simple yet demonic! (just the way I like my pictures haha)
I noticed all the changes immediately and the picture looks much better than before. The rock looks 3D and fits well with the rest of the picture. Excellent usage of textures overall. If there's a sequel, I hope it's a happy ending. 8D;

Thank you, thank you my good sir! I don't mind any redundancy, especially since it was so long ago! I am just happy you took your time to give feedback on the final piece! Much appreciated!
Simple and demonic eh? That reminds me of a certain ultra muscular manly man with muscular orange hair...what a bad boiz! All who gaze upon him swoon in delight!
I guess the only fully happy ending there would be if Nintendo brought back all the old characters that didn't make it back (and give them less cloney movesets if possible!). It seems unlikely though, since resources would probably be better used to make new characters. The character voting poll ends on October 3rd, so if you haven't voted yet, get your vote in! If anything, maybe it could be made into a Mii costume if enough people clamor for it but a full character isn't feasible. Today, they released Monster Hunter costumes which look pretty nice! A little unexpected huh?

Alas, though she felled many Killagings with her graceful moves and saved Lucas, Palutena could not bring back the beloved Ice Climbers. As powerful as she was, it was too late and the Ice Climbers were lost to the unknown beyond.

Both ice climbers are actually there, with Nana holding onto the cliff and then she's also hanging onto Popo as well before he falls into the sea of doom!

Nana starred down at her long life friend. She heard it's hot breath on her. Escaping through the cloth of her parker, hitting her neck. She felt the blade lift. She starred down at the now barely lifeless popo. Tears stung her scraped cheeks. "Popo... lucas.. red... sqirtle... I'm so sorry..." she whispered. She turned up to her soon death. She then felt hope rise in her. In one last desperate attempt she grabbed the blade, pulling him into the water with her. Popo held onto the rocks. Climbing up to face the she-villager. Nana saw the villager's eyes lit up in some kind of sick admiration for her.
First off, nana holding popo is freaking tear worthy, i didn't see it at first, now i think I'm about to cry! freaking blood bond, nana takes it serious...

I really want to see at least a fan made sequel to ice climbers, they haven't had much of a chance besides one game and a fighting game. At least they were in for about 2 games instead of lucas and roy who only had one. As soon as I laid my eyes on both ice climbers and the villager meme, I felt my story writing mode kick in haha XD

I used to be quite a Smash fanatic back in high school, keeping up with all the tournament results and reading up on all the forums, but the competitive edge in me has definitely died down quite a bit since none of my friends are like that and many of them aren't gamers. It's not enjoyable to pummel a newbie at the game and nobody feels good about winning if they know their opponent went easy on them! I don't have much time to play now, and even though I own the game, I think I personally haven't played it for more than 3 hours total maximum so I'm quite bad at it. XD Still, I enjoy it a lot when I do get to play and wish more people around me played it! It's a joy when everyone is into it!
Haha tell me about it! Oftentimes when I try something new, I just don't understand the technique behind it or it just doesn't look the way I want it to and it just looks awful! It definitely feels like I'm ruining the picture and I have a fair amount of pictures that never make it to the public eye or get completed since they're not salvageable with my current skills when I experiment. XD Even so, it is fun to try them out and they end up being good practice even if they're "ruined!"

Oh wow, seems like you were quite into it! I just play with my friends, never entered tournaments and such. It's cool that you did do, you must have been pretty good!
Yeah, it's really no fun if none of your friends play, and you can't find suitable opponents. You haven't played more than 3 hours? I wish we could get together and play sometimes, would be lots of fun. You're so right, when everyone is enjoying the game you can have a really great time together.
Yeah, I'm just the same, I see a really beautiful technique by another artist that I want to try myself. But I often rush into it and don't really understand how I'm supposed to work in order to achieve the effect the artist did, which ruins the drawing afterwards, lol. I also have this issue where I can tell that something looks off, but I can't put my finger on it. That is sooooo frustrating when it happens.
I also have quite a few pictures that I don't upload simply because they didn't turn out that great or were just meant as simple sketches that I did for fun. But it's true, even a "ruined" drawing is great practice for next time, only by making mistakes can you learn from them.

It can be hard to find the time to play the game with everything else going on. That's what Amiibo are for though! They do most of the work for me now and unlock accessories and grab coins haha! My sister actually just did a tournament this past week, but for the Wii version instead of Wii U. She didn't win but she did have a lot of fun!
Art can be really difficult like that, and it is so frustrating not being able to figure out what's wrong with something. I have that issue a lot, but I'm fortunate that I have a couple people I can show it to to help get a different perspective. I'm sure it must be extra difficult for you since you work with traditional, and changing something potentially means really scrapping the whole piece to start over! >.<
And we are typically our own worst critics. It's true that continued practice, even with a "ruined" drawing will help out in the long run. Eventually things turn out good with patience. That's the hard part though haha!

Yeah, the amiibos are originally meant to be used in the game, even if they also have aesthetic value. Sounds like they're a great help though.
Oh, that sounds amazing! I bet it's always fun to meet new foes like that, no battle becomes the same. I remember in the old super smash bros. melee you could adjust the difficulty level of the cpu, if you put it on the highest level, which was 9, it was impossible to beat that character haha.
Yeah, that's a hard feeling. Me and my friends usually have gaming and art parties, where we play a hotseat game like civilization and then the ones not currently playing will be drawing. I can get alot of tips and tricks from my friends that way, and even lend out a few of my own.
I'm always careful since I draw traditionally, I've been down that road a few times, and it's no fun.
Yeah, it's so easy to say, but hard to do.

They definitely are! And a Nintendo Direct was just done today, announcing more amiibos! Gah! I feel like I've barely started collecting the most recent wave! Do you happen to know how the amiibo stocks are in Sweden? We're actually planning to visit Sweden this summer! (Well I wrote it in my letter but unless the mailman somehow can teleport it, I doubt it is there already haha. I do hope it gets there soon though!).
I remember level 9 CPUS back then were quite difficult, though it depended on the character too, like some AIs were just abnormally good while others have a very, very sad level 9 haha. Ganondorf was a particular favorite for us to pick on. XD And that is awesome that you have gaming and art parties! We used to have some crafting parties, but definitely not art ones since not everyone drew. We'd exchange a few small themed doodles (like we pass a piece of paper around and have 3 minutes to draw what is listed on there, like that person's favorite animal or what their Christmas wishlist had) but that was about it. It must be so nice getting to draw all together at once and exchange tips!

Really? There's more coming? That's pretty cool, what kinds of characters are coming with this newest wave?
I'm not so sure about the amiibo stocks in Sweden though, I've only seen the common characters such as LInk, Samus and so on. Since I don't collect them it's really hard to stay updated.
No way, that's awesome! Where in Sweden are you planning on visiting? If you come to Kristianstad (I live only 20 minutes from that city) I would love to meet you guys and maybe even get to show you around? (it's the city I'm most familiar with, haha). I could probably get to other major cities in Skåne aswell but don't expect me to know a whole lot, my sense of direction isn't the best...
Don't worry, I'll be patient and wait for it, haha.
I don't remember particular characters like you do since it's been so long since I've last played melee. Must have been at least ten years.
But crafting parties sounds really neat aswell, quite a fun idea. It is indeed really great when we get together like that, we always laugh alot and I've been learning a thing or two about drawing since we motivate and give each other tips.

Yep, there are more coming! I think Europe and the US have slightly different ones releasing in a different order (like we'll get some in April that Europe gets in June, and vice versa). The next wave has Lucina, Robin, Ness, Pacman, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Greninja, Wario, Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and a Squid (the latter three from Splatoon). Then the month after has Dark Pit and Palutena. Then in the fall is Dr. Mario, Ganondorf, Zero Suit Samus, Olimar, and Bowser Jr. Then after that are the Yoshi's Wooly Word ones, which are super cute! They are little plush yarn Yoshis! I am sure they will be fairly rare, if only because they are so cute and people here just eat up amiibos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (there was a huge fiasco with Wave 4 preorders last week), so I'm really hoping I can get at least one of those yarn Yoshis, even though I don't want the game haha! I would love one to display on my desk and squish!
Alas we are quite far from Kristianstad, or it would have been really cool to see you! We'll be in Stockholm, since that is where the cruise stops at. I think our plan is just to get the Stockholm Card and hit as many museums as possible, or maybe do a cruise excursion. From what I've seen, everything is really expensive over there (at least compared to the US), yikes! Is that just normal for all of Sweden, or is it specifically Stockholm? I also heard the taxes are quite high. Are there any particular souvenirs you would recommend?
Yes, having friends who draw can be a great motivation! It is fun to compliment each other with our styles too, like one of my friends does a lot of work with figure drawing and linework, while I have more experience with digital coloring and drawing out special effects. We can give each other tips, since the other person has what we are weak in! Everyone has their own specialty so it's nice to incorporate what works for them. Granted, some of them I still can't get t work, and I can never quite get it to look the way I want it to. XD

Woah, that's really cool! I would love to get the charizard one! What are splatoon? I've never heard about it, what console did that come for, is it a japanese exclusive game?
Those yarn yoshis are so neat, I would like one of those aswell, seems like they put in alot of effort into them. Which color would you want?
Ah, Stockholm is quite a far way from where I live, such a bummer! I'm sure you will have a great time though, and you have to let me know all about it!
I'm sure you will find many awesome museums, sadly I don't know any personally, or anything of what you can do in Stockholm.
Yeah, things are more expensive here and we have quite high taxes. The taxes are high because we have free healthcare and education, so the high taxes helps to pay for that. We also have alot of social security and you get help and support if you struggle in life, you for example get money from the state when you're unemployed, to help you survive until you find a new job. I'm just happy to pay a little extra taxes just for that, one day I might be the one ending up in a hospital. I think Sweden ranked 6th in a list that was quite recently made of the worlds best countries to live in, in regards to safety, social security and such.
For souvenirs, I would definitely recommend something related to a moose. We have a very classic warning sign for moose that is often sold as a souvenir, or some postcards since you're into that! But just remember to enjoy your trip though Europe, I'm sure you'll have a blast!
Haha, sounds like we had similar experiences, it can both be a tool for motivation and frustration, haha!

Hopefully one day you'll find a Charizard amiibo! It's a bit lighter orange than I'd like, and the nails often aren't painted on that well from the few that I have seen, but overall it is quite nice! Splatoon is Nintendo's take on the shooting game. It's for the Wii U and it's out worldwide. It has a unique take on things where killing people is good, but not necessary for helping your team. It's a team game where mainly it's about covering the most area with ink or holding an area for a longer period of time. I know a lot of people really like it (despite it being released seemingly unfinished, like obviously not enough stages and weapons), but I personally didn't buy it. It's great to see Nintendo finally having some new IP though! The art style for the game is great too. And those yarn Yoshi do look wonderful! I really want one, but I don't really want the game...I just want one of those cute little plushies to squish and display! I want one of each color, but I guess if I could only pick one, the green one is probably the most classic looking and "matches" everything.
We saw a lot of things when we were in Stockholm! I think we visited 19 museums/palaces/etc during our two days there? We got the Stockholm Card and just kept going and going haha! Other people who took tours instead of exploring themselves only got to see 2-3 things while our cruise was docked. We really felt super efficient and had a great time.
That sounds great that you guys are used to paying taxes for those things. And it sounds like you guys are really taken care of! Here it would never fly because even though we would all like those things, nobody is used to paying such high taxes (and our state already has high taxes compared to others). That makes it hard since then it makes it dependent on private insurance which can be hard to afford or getting "free" health by going into a hospital (if you don't have insurance, you can still get treated in the emergency room), but then those expenses get eaten up elsewhere. It's a really hard process to break at this point and I hope we are able to fix it! There's a lot of people who take advantage of the system too, so it is sad. We spend so much money on things but don't have a whole lot to show for it. A lot of our education is free as well, and we do have social security. But overall the country is just getting poorer and poorer, so public schools that rely on the taxes keep getting cut. For awhile, some schools only had classes three days a week or only half day because they couldn't afford to keep the school open for so long. Others fired a lot of teachers, so class sizes were too big and students were seen sitting outside the classroom. This actually happened to some of my friends during high school who went to different schools just a city away. There's also food stamp programs to help out those in need and a lot of aid for those under the poverty line...assuming they meet certain criteria (and they don't always do, which is unfortunate). Too bad we can't easily adopt a system like Sweden! There's some great things in this country, which I've come to appreciate more after traveling, but goodness there's a ton of things that need a serious overhaul to improve the quality of life for everyone, both rich and poor.
And thank you for the souvenir recommendations! I actually didn't see any warning signs for moose for sale...I did see some elk pelts though and a couple moose magnets and plushies! I ended up just buying a lot of postcards haha! They're light and easy to fit in the suitcase. There's surprisingly very little space in the suitcase after packing several jackets and winter sweaters. It's very different from when we were in the Caribbean, where the clothes literally take up 1/3 the space! Thanks again for your advice!

Haha, I'm with you on the yarn yoshi, it seems quite unique and that's why you want it, not the game itself. XD
Oh, thanks for explaining splatoon to me, I didn't know it was a shooter game actually. Maybe those kinds of games are not up your alley?
OH MY! That's a freaking amount of places in just two days, did you only spend like an hour at each place? XD But I'm glad you had such a great time though, and you really managed to squeeze in a lot of things!
I'm sorry to hear that the healthcare and school system seems to be in so much trouble over in the US, I really hope things will work out for the better soon. It's always bad when the poor are the ones that gets left out. But since the US has such a big population making those changes can be very hard, especially since each state has their own laws.
But I bet they're many things that are good in the states aswell.
Oh, well postcards are always a good choice and easy to pack, haha!
I know right? When you're travelling it feels like clothes take up the majority of your suitcase, especially if you're gonna be gone for a long time. XD

Shooter games are okay for me. While they aren’t my favorite genre, I’ve enjoyed games like Metroid and Destiny. I don’t doubt that Splatoon is a lot of fun and I love the style of the characters (I ended up getting the amiibo for it since they’re so nifty looking!), but nowadays it’s hard to have a good, long uninterrupted online session to play. Maybe if it has a better local multiplayer mode or a more fleshed out single player mode later in the series, I’d get it then!
Haha indeed! For all the bad things, there are great things that come out of it as well and lessons learned.
I’m glad! It was an overall fantastic 2 days in Sweden, and we tried to squeeze in as much as we could, since it could be years before we return again. Some things we only spent about 20 minutes on, like the Nobel Prize Museum or Fotografiska, but others we spent ~2 hours, like the Royal Palace or Skansen Open Air Museum. It was a great trip, and I’d love to do it all over again haha! A shame there aren’t more hours in a day to enjoy things at a more leisurely pace. XD I suppose the brevity makes it all the more beautiful and cherished in a way though!
Exactly! Between clothes and sundries, the suitcase gets quite full doesn’t it? XD

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of shooter games either, but I did like metroid and some other ones. But I find them to repetitive most of the time, and they often lack in story and plot unfortunately. :/
Yeah, that's a lot of experiences in just two days, but did you even have time to take everything in in just 20 minutes? XD
Haha, let's try to make the day longer, feels like it could be necessary at times. Or a way to decrease our need for sleep. XD
Indeed! I always find some nifty souvenir I have to buy. XD
Speaking about buying, I'm actually interested in starting an ant farm, I looked around on the web for formicariums and such, and I plan on saving money so that I can buy it later this year.
They're quite expensive, haha.

A lot of multiplayer focused games unfortunately do tend to lack in story and plot, and the repetitiveness I think is driven largely by competition and self-satisfaction at improving. Sometimes it can be too much though, like my brother in law gave up on Call of Duty, because he says he's just not good enough and keeps getting slaughtered online (some people complain this of Mario Kart's online system as well). He doesn't have time to practice for hours either, so he's stuck in a rut there. Without much of a story to go off of, it's just a repetition of constant losing. XD
Haha well, the 20 minutes go by quickly! Luckily we have photos and videos to help us recall the days' events.
Awesome! I hope that your ant farm will go well! It sounds like it could be a fun holiday gift for yourself! I really admire that you've raised such a wide variety of critters, and each year you have new goals with them. You must have learned so much over the years from all your research! Are there any other animals you think that in the next two years, you may consider getting?

That's so true! Many online games are very repetitive and the goal is to improve your skills and win battles. But if you can't play for hours or aren't that skilled in video games, they quickly become boring. XD
Good thing you have those photos. XD It can be hard to remember otherwise.
Thanks! I just hope I will be able to catch my own queen, which will be around may to July here if I'm correct.
I do love to learn more, and it's always fun to add some new members to the household. XD
Well, the pets I'm considering for the coming two years for the moment would be button quails, gerbils, mice or blind cave tetras. One of those probably, haha. How about you my friend?

Very much so! But I guess the repetitive nature of online games also makes it easier to hop in when you haven't played for awhile, since once you've played 1-2 matches, it all comes back naturally.
Nice choices! I had button quails before (so cute!) and they're a riot! Mice are fun too and we kept them for several years. I have to admit though, the males smell pretty bad since they mark their territory eeeeeverywhere! XD I recently went to the store to see if they had any blind cave tetras in stock, but sadly they didn't. Like you, I'm also hoping to add them in the coming two years!
What's the process of catching a queen? I wish you the best in a few months (just in time for your birthday!) for catching one!

Indeed, it's easy to get back in the swing again after a hiatus.
Aww, that's nice! I know male mice smell so bad, so I'm opting for females in that case. XD
Cool, if you manage to get hold of cave tetras you have to send me a picture!
Thank you! You simply have to search the ground or along roads during their nuptial flight, and find a queen without wings, which is a sign that she's been mating. You then catch her and put her in a test tube with a water reservoir and cotton to allow air to pass, and then store it in a dark place. The queen thinks she's underground in a small chamber and will start to lay her eggs.
I've been reading a lot about it, haha.

Definitely will do! You're the only other person I know who has an interest in cave tetras, and if I get them, I definitely have to share that experience with you!
Wow, that is so cool! Now it makes me wonder if I've ever passed by any queens at the side of the road, and just thought they were regular workers without taking a closer look. What happens to the queen if she isn't able to find a new home before the next day? Does she just keep walking along the ground, looking for a good place underground, or does she have a time limit to do so and will most likely perish?

Cool, I'm looking forward to hear from you in that case.
Queens are quite a bit bigger than regular work ants, but can still be hard to spot. Well, she's an ant after all, so she can dig her own little tunnel if she doesn't find a suitable home. But many do get picked off by predators before they have the opportunity to dig down, the queen is also very vulnearable before her colony becomes established, since she has no protection.
