Description
November, 2005Acrylic on canvas.
18x24
This was actually my first painting ever done on canvas. I just started making some horizontal strokes and was fascinated by the texture of the paint and its drips. I eventually made a whole painting out of it and this was the result. This style influenced me a lot for this season of paint, using drips to create little trees or roots in the painting's background. This was my first discovery of this interesting effect.

i love that self taught artists are able to capture these moments in our work where we discover techniques. there's something very organic about that and it shows. it's way different than learning a technique in a class and doing it so much that it starts to lose it's freshness. this is striking.

thank you! I hope to do more paintings with these drips, or tendrils or roots, in the future.
