It is a good show, really good! I would recommend it to everyone if I could. There's a lot to love about it.
It gets especially good around episode 25 or so, that's when more of the plot starts to develop. Not to say the earlier episodes are bad, they're more along the lines of a traditional cartoon plot and they help establish what all the characters and settings are like. The show likes to trick you into thinking you're watching a fun cartoon, but after a while it ends up getting pretty deep and serious. I won't lie, I've cried a few times while watching the show. 
I watched all the episodes in one day, so the show won't take you that long to get through, there's around 10 hours of watch time so far.

Not to mention all of the diversity in it too. You have girls, guys, non binary space rocks, lesbians, fat people, tall people, skinny people, people of color, sensitive men, strong women; basically everything and anything in between! It's such an important show, I'm so glad it exists.
