Description I have been trying to stay on top of the art-making thing to the extent that I make a work once a day, and at least once a week.
This doesn't mean throwing together anything and calling it good.

The idea is to push further and spend between 4-12 hours a day working on an image learning the intricacies, nuances, and behaviors of the medium. In a way, the DA gallery here is a log of the work and so while not all of the images are what I would put in a gallery, the ones I upload are the most interesting to me. Where I think the image is not really at a strong enough stand point, I make it a scrap.

I know the abstract stuff tends to look similar on the outside but as records of the process I find them valuable.

This is one of a series of related image. The idea of the series is a phrase that keeps coming up when I am working on these. "PHP" "persistent-hum-progress". As in, the noise of operating machines, and of course progression, as a species, as an individual, whatever.

Thanks for sitting through the lecture.

I always thought that digital painting couldn't catch the colors from a real brush, i thought they couldn't have the warmth a real painting has. In a way i still believe that because you can't feel or smell the paint, but if i said that the colors aren't vivid, then i must be lying

I think too that there is a lot of digital art that imitates traditional material, but really we should let digital be digital.

I am interested in learning the tools and then seeking out the properties of digital tools that are unique to the medium.
In a way, I think it is important for the artist to let the digital art be digital and acknowledge the presence of the tools.

But of course, it is necessary at times to emulate traditional material as well.

Thanks for the feedback!

So amazingly intricate ... and replete with "hints" . If it were possible to do digital "frattage" (and it may be,for my knowledge in this area is quite limited) it might look something like this . The blue grabs me every time . I have no defence against blue .

Funny someone mentioned the Matrix. This looks like a map of the globe done all Matrix-y.
I like the progression of the color. The blue to the white...really nice.

Phroar. do you work them in a massive format at first, aye?

Great stuff, loving the work you're doing

Oh yeah, this one is actually smaller, 8"h x20"w (20cm x 50cm) or thereabouts.

I really wish people could see the "physical" versions. As much as I love digital there is so much lost in a 250K jpg.

Boosh, that really makes me want a print now

or even just to see them in a gallery close-up. By the way; my new, cynical art teacher has a new favourite artist

Well heck, if by some chance you can make it to NYC by December you are certainly welcome to come to the show!
Just be sure to allow 4 days for airport security.

New fav artist eh? That's cool. Just for the record we are not talking about Peter Max right?
I am thinking about making some smaller works like, 4"x6" size which would still contain the detail but would basically be cost -effective enough to make widely available. Probably would have to price them around $15 or so to cover shipping but it's an idea.

Stay tuned for futher details as I make them up.

You know the scene in the matrix where morpheus is explaining to neo how the sun was scorched and they show a burnt out city? This piece reminds me of that. Very, very, cool.
