And just when I thought it was going good...I need a new family, seriously! one that likes christmas!
Well, it's not that my family doesn't like Christmas it's just that, as Ben put it "Christmas doesn't always come to this house." and Dad even mentioned the other day that he hates Christmas songs because they remind him of when he was little and all his neighbors and friends had Christmas but he didn't because either he was home alone or he and his siblings were all split up into different houses, or he was living with his super strict grandfather who didn't celebrate.
So well.. Christmas kind of sucks for us. And I admit I too share all those depressing memories of holidays that never came, but I LOVE Christmas. Even with all the bad memories, and even though the day itself is pretty blah... the buildup, the excitement, the kindness, the warmth and friendliness is the air and in the smiles of completely strangers... I just can't help but love the Holiday season. Unfortunately I think it's just too much for my family. They don't mind the tree and the lights and the nativity scene over the fireplace and the meal. But that's about all they care for.
Simply put, they don't like the build up because it's like getting their hopes up and then having them dashed when the day finally arrives and it feels just like any other day. Its the same for me... Christmas day is a normal humdrum day, nothing special about it... generally I sleep in and that's about it. But the build up.... the build up is EVERYTHING.
P.S. Jose doesn't really have a drinking problem, but we do love to teasing him about the fact that he likes to go out every weekend and one out of ten times will get semi-drunk (he's slurring and a little out of it but remembers everything the next day)... but only about 1 out of 50 will he actually get "wasted"

Aww, I feel so sad for you. 
As you know I'm a big Christmas' fan too, but it is running in my family. My grand-mother, my mom, my sister in law and myself we're all crazy about Christmas' songs, movies, food, snow... The day itself is pretty normal though, we eat and pass the day together, but that's pretty much it. It's just like you say, the build up is everything.

mine got tired of the music (admittedly, I have been playing non-stop christmas songs since before Thanksgiving)... they've forbidden me, but I'm not stopping... and as an added revenge i've changed the dining room table clothe to a glittery red one!

Is is that time of year.
Of course, Christmas music does get annoying sometimes. Especially when TWO of my local stations start playing it NOVEMBER 1. (I am listening to it, now though. Charlie Brown... Dec 1 is the okay day to start some.)

Hum Drum except everything is closed except the movies and convenience stores, both of which usually do a LOT of business on Christmas day because...

Oh, and some of the chain drug stores. CVS. Walgreens. Open.
Christmas Day used to be the day I would go to the busier parts of town because they would almost be deserted. Almost no cars in the parking lots. Looked kinda surreal.
That was before I started WORKING Christmas day. But I don't dread that. I've done that enough.
The DAY AFTER is the killer. The movies ARE STILL BUSY, along with the stores and the returns and exchanges.
Comes around every year. Same songs. Similar decorations.
I don't put up a christmas tree, but if I still had it I would put up the old circa 1960s aluminum tree. I have a picture of it somewhere. I need to find it, scan it and post it. Base and branches of wood, the base which screwed together vertically, the branches which were inserted into holes in the base which had foil like wrappings around it. Attach ornaments and tinsel around it and - retro 60s sci-fi christmas tree. I hated it when I was little because one couldn't put lights on it. (Dad feared they would short out on that tree.) Mom later either donated or tossed that tree.

I bet my kitten could climb that tree and not hurt it!

I consider listening to Christmas Music for more than five minutes excessive. Whenever a Christmas song comes on the radio I turn the station. I need my rock and metal!

The worst of it was when I was a little kid and I woke up coughing so I turned on my TV and the only thing on was that stupid movie where the kid wants a BB gun. XD I kept waking up and falling asleep to it, I can't stand that stupid movie xD

No I completely understand where your coming from. Its actually a pretty strong theory...or is it fact...I'm not sure that two many things in your room make it harder to fall asleep. Unfortunately my room acts as my office, my game center, my living room, and of course my bed room. Its a wonder I fall asleep at all.
