Criticism:
If it weren't for that deviation description you put, I thought they were just talking about how they lost their hands. For honest criticism, your pose looks 'too stiff and 'too symmetrically balanced.

Since the title is entitled as 'Poses' then I'll try to focus on that particular subject without mentioning too much anatomical parts on how it's anatomically drawn (e.g. hands, legs, foot, etc.)

The right figure... looks like it's standing still but is in no shape of attacking or defensing itself. The body language is really vague making it difficult to know what action you were really planning to go for. Not a lot of movement seems to be applied (I'll get back to this in the few following paragraphs).
As for the left figure... we can see it's slighhtlyy making a move because of the right leg being in a little different angle than the left leg all at the same time maintaining balance, but it's not enough to know what exactly that figure is trying to do since everything seems (still) "too symmetrically balanced".

What do I mean by "too symmetrically balanced" you might ask? Well to explain briefly it looks like you were trying to force yourself to replicate exactly or almost the same arm/leg you drew on the other side of the body. Doing so makes it look stiff and less interesting for a start. BUT you understand balance.

Now balance is something a lot of people forgets including me. Without balance your figure will fall apart really quickly. If you understand how gravity works then balance will not be a huge issue for ya. All you need now is to have knowledge of it in your drawings.

TL;DR to sum up critiques, be less symmetrical and vague in movements/positions of gestures.

ADVICE
1    Remember this. Angles that are open from 90°~ to 180° are considered relaxed angles. If you want a figure to be relaxed, be sure to be around those angles.

Angles that are closed in from 0° to 90°~ are known to be sharp angles. If you think of the word sharp you are thinking about force or something dangerous. If you want to give a figure liveliness such as excitably jumping, furiously punching or sadly hands-and-knees (OTL) on floor sobbing, theeen you are most likely wanting to get sharp angles.

Almost every dynamic poses are using sharp angles. So take that in consideration and don't be afraid to exaggerate even if it looks ridiculous.

2    Another tip is try viewing the bigger picture rather than the details. Draw your basic idea on screen/paper and detail it after when you are sure to see an idea. NEVER start with details unless you are a badass pro artist and know exactly what you are doing then by all means.

3    R e f e r e n c e. Reference. Reference. Now don't get reference confused by copying. Copying is to replicate the exact image you were referencing to.

Referencing is taking one or many ideas of one or many images and putting into your own idea. Reference is a guide. Reference is a tool to understanding a subject. Reference are artists best friends. Reference is YOUR best friend. Don't be afraid to use references if you don't know how a certain thing is drawn. I highly suggest you refer to real life/living objects. You can refer from other artist if it's easier for you but doing so will not make you fully understand how to draw certain things.

4    Patience. Don't forget every artist comes from somewhere. No artist comes out of nowhere and becomes great at a snap of a finger. Patience is the key. Take time to experiment new stuff. Be open minded to new techniques. Watch tutorials, livestreams, theory. Learn to have patience with yourself and others. Learn from the artists. Teach the artists.

This is getting too long and I'm supposed to be sleeping. There's too much to give but I hope this can get you to see a clear path of where to go next!

I can see the angle you're going for here but I think I need to clarify if you mean with copying an image, you mean the exact piece since trying to redraw hands from tutorials for example I think is a good way to go but I can see your point.

Copying is okay as long as it's not a piece of art made by someone else, yes. Copying from a tutorial is completely 100% safe since you are learning.

I am drawing hands right now (and they are a bitch) so I use a few techniques to better understand how to draw the basics: trotterreviews.deviantart.com/…

Hey there, you asked me for some tips regarding this.

I'll give you a few things to try to focus on:

1. Reference, reference, reference! Look up pictures of fighting stances for boxing and such. All artists use reference, and I do as well. Those kung fu otter poses were poses I referenced from elsewhere. If you did use reference, great! Keep using them and don't feel guilty.

2. I'd try to do the full bodies instead of cutting things off at the knees. For action poses feet placement matters a lot, and with them cut off, you can't see where they are, and just assume they're standing normally, which wouldn't work for a fighting pose. They tend to have wide stances.

3. I'd raise the fists up more! I think they would be defending their faces by keeping their fists up closer to where their vision is. You did a good job keeping one fist higher than the other though!

So to summarize: Don't be afraid to look up pictures for help, drawing from life is everything we must do; try to show the feet next time so we can see their wide stance; and raise the fists up more closer to their vision!

Omg they look like British Victorian boxers with those poses, if you know what I mean.
Anyway on with the review (don't ask)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lefty (I would make a joke but .... never mind)
I see may improvements ^^ the physic looks like some one well build. And I can't really see any problems..... but the arms look a little small for the body (I know this because I stared at the picture for ten minutes looking for things).
You just need to draw the hands (good luck there the worst things to draw .... for me at lest .... any who) and the faces (enough more luck)

***************************************************
Righty (tighty ^_~ )
Ok on this one the left arm (the one facing us) is too small , maybe us, a ersizer to make it a bit bigger (another joke there). The neck looks a bit thin and the shoulder doesn't smooth around it. Hold on look at your neck in a mirror and see how it looks and how its smoothly it runs from your shoulder to your head. (Sounds weird but try it)

(Oh god over people ..... I'm just going to sit in the shadows a while , I don't think you need me any more)

If by jealousy you mean I want to drive a awe in there face because they give a more detailed review of what you drawn and pulling the attention from me to that bear. Then yeah I'm jealous and selfish then it comes to my friends.

I simply want to get as brought of a spectrum of critisism as possible and you have got that their drawings are more advanced in their techniques and I am glad that I even got any at all, because when it comes down to it, I don't have many contacts to anyone.

You are probably the closest,I have known somebody outside of my family in a very long time. I appreciate you and your critisism but you don't have to be jealous that somebody with more experience can give a more detailed and more professional piece of critisism.

With you I can talk about video games and cultures way better than with anyone else, and I appreciate this on a whole different level

*reads the last sentence* I appreciate you too man    your one of the true friends that haven't forgotten about and normally talk to me and don't think I'm "weird" in the kindest words I can find of and lets just admit we're all a little weird in some way ^U^
