Ha! I know which map was used here. There is something very appealing in the strong lines and perspective - man-made offset by a glimpse of sky.
There are tales of extra-terrestrial appearances in this region but this hardly looks threatening.

Of course you know the map. Unless needed, refuse to get much "sophisticated", it's a question of how you use the prog's resources applied to your mind.
Won't get into what you say are tales, too much crap around which trivialize stuff deserving serious investigations. Anyway, like you well said, doesn't look threatening but you have always mistrust what things may appear at the surface. Thank you very much for your insight!

The tales I was alluding to were Lovecraft's = purely fictional and uncomfortable.
I've downloaded many map packages but just haven't gotten the hang of getting 98% of them to do do what I want and the formulas with options to map just don't result in changes no matter what I select - frustrating.

Get it, I like H.P.Lovecraft and read several of his books. The man is uncomfortable indeed, but there are some few stories, when you look deep into them, which makes you think the guy had some point. OK, this could be arguable, but I've read quite a lot about ancient civilizations and he was aware of some of the readings in his time.
Like you, I have a lot of seemingly useless maps but don't get frustrated. It's a matter of what your imagination AND inspiration can do. There are ways to make them work as you wish. Better having them than not, you never know. I'll never confess which "maps" I used in some works late in 2015. Cheer up!
