I recently noticed i got an anon ask on tumblr asking for some more jaune x ruby x oscar content, but turns outthe ask was MONTHS old so i felt hella bad. I actually wanted to draw more of them for a while now, so i used an old
sketch and tried to polish it as much as I could
Anyway, props to Lost-One-60 for coming up with the ship name. It's fitting and easy to remember~
Ive seen other people call it "Stoplight", because of their red/yellow/green color combo but, personally, to me that
sounds more like they're all into each other instead of just jaune and oscar liking ruby, and them being just friends.
And although i use this rwby shipping chart for everything, the name "Breaking in the new kid" sounds like ruby and
jaune are both into oscar, but not really dating each other.... ship names are weird in this fandom.... XD

I confess, I was a Lancaster shipper for a long time after Pyrrha died (Arkos still number one, though), but lately, it's taken second to Rose Garden. There's just something so adorable about both ships. I'm more a fan of the latter now, but I still love ship fics of the former.

Weiss: Your Uncle hit on my sister, she's barely 4 years older than you.
Yang: And we both know how much Uncle Qrow is a pervert.
Ruby: Okay, but seriously, with the war going on, I don't really have the time to throw myself at a relationship like you and Blake, not when I have to manage you and everyone else.
Yang:...I'm sorry, little sis, I didn't mean to come off as rude.
Ruby: I know, Yang...something you taught me is that at the end of the day, one of things I'll always need is hugs and comfort from the people I trust...even if they are guys. I know Dad would be worrying sick if he saw this.
Yang: I know I am too. But I trust you. Just know that like Dad, if anybody does break your heart, I'll break their legs.
Ruby: Thanks Yang. Just one question.
Yang
Ruby: Can you have some strawberries ready for us when we wake up?
Yang: Sure...you are a growing girl after all!
Ruby: I'M ALMOST AN AD-
Yang puts a finger to her lips: Shhh.
Ruby blushes checking to see if her friends are still asleep.
Jaune and Oscar are still snoring.
Yang smiles, nods, and leaves with Weiss by her side.
Outside the Room:
Weiss: Still feels like something could go-
Yang holds up her hand.
Weiss: What?
Yang: It's bad manners to eavesdrop, old man.
A crow flies down before taking human form.
Qrow: How long did you know I was there?
Yang: Ever since Mom showed me that, I've had to keep my eyes about me.
Qrow: After everything we've been through, you're still calling her that?
Yang chuckled: I've had two moms, and two dads.
Qrow: Uhhhh
Yang: You may not be Ruby or my father, but when Dad needed you to help him raise us, you were there for him, just like Summer was. And Summer will always be my Super-mom.
Qrow chuckles: You're finally acting like an adult, firecracker.
Yang: I had to face acting like one before I could become one, so I'm going to wait and see what happens for Ruby.
Qrow: Suppose Ruby ends up with both of them? Entire Team?
Yang: Then we take bets on whether Weiss or Blake become alcoholic.
Weiss: HEY!
Blake: I can hear you!
Qrow: So we prevent it?
Yang grins: Hell no! I wanna see if my little sister can manage a harem...Hey Weiss, how do you think about-
Weiss: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

Post nap, Jaune wakes up alone but can tell he had not been alone in the bed, also notices Yang sitting across from him...
Jaune: "Oh, hi Yang, umm... how long have you been there?"
Yang: (stern tone) "Long enough to see you napping in the same bed as my baby sister."
Jaune: "Wait... what...?"
Yang: "And Oscar."
Jaune: "Wait, what...?"
Yang: "Nora took pictures."
Jaune: "WAIT, WHAT?!!!"
Yang: (stepping forward and placing her prosthetic fist just under Jaune's nose) "I just want to let you know, hurting Ruby in any way carries very serious consequences."
(Jaune runs from the room screaming in terror, Yang nearly doubles over laughing)
Qrow: (coming out of hiding in bird form) "That was messed up, Firecracker."
Yang: (in tears laughing) "But so much fun!"
Qrow: "I still can't believe Oscar's screaming when you pulled this stunt with him earlier didn't wake Jaune up."

Haha omfg this one's my favorite! Everyone's character is on point, and the witty comebacks
are awesome as always.
Something about this dialogue being written like a play really gets to me, it just makes it easier to
read, and to move along the story, so it feels more like an actual conversation
I do want to believe ruby gets with both of them eventually, she just isn't as direct as qrow is.
If one of the girls were to become a "wine aunt" I think it would be blake, weiss doesnt have the
best relationship with alcohol, so she would limit herself and her friends when they've had too much XD

So we tried posting this in Rooster Teeth on Facebook...the reactions were terrifying...we had to delete our post there...the other groups seemed to accept it fine...except for the RWBY group...but wow...people surprised us.

Damn... i guess it's better to only post ship art in niche groups like shipping servers or specific shipping reddits
It'll save us some trouble and drama (which i think the fandom has enough of oof) and if people are
actually interested in certain ships, they can just go looking for it
Some people just don't take shipping well or take it wayyy to seriously... (and this is something considering im a huge shipper myself)

Oscar: "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!!"
Qrow: "Shhhhhh quiet, you'll upset the baby. Come on, Oz, how many centuries of experience and you let THAT slip?"

It looks like Ruby inherited her more from her parents than just an interest in Grimm Hunting. As for Jaune, I wouldn't be surprised if this version was into Oscar too - the way he was blushing in the Marrow picture hints at some level of interest in men. Other than that, I found the height difference between the three characters rather amusing.
Then there's the Shipping Chart … good God the shipping chart! I agree that the ship names are weird ("Ruby/Jaune" is self-explanatory, "Lancaster" is not), and with so many combinations it would take a byzantine spreadsheet to keep track of them all. Well, nobody can accuse the fandom of being uninvested.

My guess is that "Lancaster" referees to the House of Lancaster, one of the two houses involved in the Wars of the Roses, the other being the House of York, with Lancaster being represented by a Red rose, and York, a White one. Along with Jaune being akin to a knight, I thought it was rather clever, imo. Can understand the confusion, though!
