This is not an easy thing to live with, and often is very challenging for the caregivers as well as the person that helps them. But the rewards are great. Seeing your loved one for the first time interact with their environment and you can be the most amazing thing. Every day there are new therapies being created, as well as drugs to help. It is unfortunate that even with all these great medical advances that many children every year are still being diagnosed with this. It can be severe or it can be so mild that you wouldn't know it from a simple interaction.

Last thing I can tell you as far as getting support, ask your doctor, hospital, or clergy if they know any groups that meet. Also talk to friends and family members, they can help or even just listen. Remember you are never alone.
