Description
A Go-to Reference for Metroid Prime Rundas fans.I've loved this boi since the moment I laid eyes on him, and like many other fans, I've found drawing him a rather uphill struggle. So, I finally gathered the necessary materials to create a proper character sheet for him.
Do note-This is NOT my original character. He is property of Metroid and Nintendo.
Additional Info
I still can't get over just how adorably small his torso is X'D It just makes my giggly.
Enjoy~

Thank you so much for making this. I've always loved Rundas, but I'll be damned if I could ever draw the guy.

OmG serious???
Your Rundas pic is absolutely GORGEOUS and it was what actually motivated me to finally get this done~<333
If you end up drawing another one PLZ link it to me!
Better yet I'll just watch you omg ~<333

I've never played Metroid in my life, but let me just say that this design is mind-blowing!

LOL I asked a friend to draw Rundas for an art trade. I love him too <'3Β Finding reference for him was so impossible though, I had to let her use my Wii and the in-game model just so she could know what he looked like. If only we'd had this earlier XD
He has such strange anatomy. The original concept piece from Andrew Jones has a much more humanoid look to it and a more plausible torso lol. It's weird how much he changed in the transition to 3-D

Oh I so wish you could have used this back then...
I have found so many fans just suffering through screenshots that this simply had to be done!
Again, I'm sorry it wasn't around sooner~<333
And his anatomy really is nuts. Tho that really adds a great deal to why I love it so much. Most games generally stick to a very humanoid build so they can use the same model set and just switch the skins. So for Rundas to look this bizarre is truly unique, and I adore it.
As for the humanoid version, is it this image here?Β

If so I never realized this was the official character concept I always assumed it was a rough starting point X'D
Regardless, in-game Rundas speaks to me much more.

Yeah that's the one. Andrew Jones did a lot of concept for all three Prime games
I love all the aliens in the Prime series. Particularly the Urtragian pirates and the Luminoth <3 Though they do share a lot of anatomical characteristics(tiny waist, long hocked legs, hunchbacks, heads that fuse into the body, thighs wider at the tips, etc.). You can see a very clear stylistic consistency, but it's very unique to Metroid XD I admittedly take a lot of influence in my art from the creature designs haha
I wish we could see more of Rundas. Maybe even a prequel

I love the Luminoth! I never knew that most of the Prime style originated from a single source, and an American one at that! Thank you so much for this information I find it fascinating and am definitely going to delve deeper!
And ya-The fangirl in my would DIE to see Rundas in Brawl.
Total pipe dream but dang it if wouldn't be amazing.

The Prime games were developed in Austin, Texas by RetroStudios. Nintendo had very little direct involvement besides approving certain aspects of the story and design and such. I always preferred the Western Metroid games to be honest.
LOL if Rundas got a spot in the new SSB I'd probably shit my pants. We do already get Dark Samus as an assist trophy though!

QUQ
You have made me so very very happy!
This was the whole reason for creating this!
Just to see artists like you attempt to draw dear sweet Rundas~<333
Please link me your image once you are done!
I can't wait to see it.

This is awesome, it reminds me of a similar photo about Samus' power Suit and it's upgrades from Prime 1.
Wow. Even Rundas wears High Heels... lol.

It's like they took out the pelvis and just attached the legs to the ribs. 8'D he has no booty, how does he even sit?
*giggles and nit picks over various parts of the design*
But wow that's hella nice to have a reference like this instead of squinting at the shady game references. XD Not sure if I'll ever have to or want to draw him but at least I know where to get references for him now B'D
*snickers again at the handle bar on the back of his head* Makes me wonder how they even designed him |D Did they just take a blob in zBrush and randomly muck around with it without thinking?

ShadowOfSolace In reply to AealZX [2014-07-30 19:16:52 +0000 UTC]
Bahahaa He sits on his sternum! Just like a normal space alien armor...snail...thing? X''3
And I still think he's gorgeous- largely because his orignal concept art really does look like a blob effect in Z-brush lmao

HAH! And what do'ya'know, he really did have ankle spikes back then! *laughter*

XDDDDDDD
yeah the design is definitely an upgrade, and I like his colors and stiletto feet |D and several other things about him. But there are still things that make me giggle. Like the random . . . bump? sticking out from his bicep |D
Eyyy lookit that. Wonder what the reason was for taking them off and leaving holes.Β

ShadowOfSolace In reply to AealZX [2014-07-30 19:33:07 +0000 UTC]
Muuuch much better.
And me too!! I've always wondered about that! Like wth is it? I hope it shields him from lightning in a thunderstorm or something lol.
His little Brachi is my favorite tho (that weird little bump on the inner side on his forearm).
It's just so silly random amidst all the finite curves it makes me happy X'D
And ya I totally luv his stiletto feets. They're just so needlessly complex I luv it X3
And iono. Mebe they took em' off to add character. Give him a bit of a past I guess since his people are known for their mining rather then combat.

HAHAHAH Lightning rod on the arms XDDD
Ahhh yeah his arms are pretty cool (pardon the pun) He's like a mix between organic and machine, it's interesting
Possibly. I do wonder more about his backstory and character and stuff. They give so little information in the game. BI

Bahaha XD
(wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't pointed it out) *lawl*
And ya. *huffs*
Even the info they DID give didn't necissarly fit the personalites in game.
(I get that Runs a huge 'lone wolf ego trip' but I"ll be darned if he wasn't a total puppy at Samus's heels)

Mhmmm, they feel like they were all hastily rushed together just for plot devices. 8I
