I was SO excited for this event!...But that didn't stop me from waiting until the last moment to start it XD

I wanted to do a cohesive piece, one that showcased multiple characters from SoC, but time constraints required I keep it simple-So you get a full body of Kels Caindread form instead ^_^

The more I worked on him, the more I started to notice some parallels between him and the Chinese 'ShiShi' or Komainu. Commenly known as foo dogs-or Lion dogs in English.

They stand as the sentinels of temples to ward off evil. As a pair they are the beginning and the end, the celestial guardians of holy sites. They uphold law.
I found this truly fascinating since alot of core elements align between them.
Perhaps I will think more highly of creating a creature ref for his Caindread form.

^_^ Regardless, I had a great time working on this piece-especially since I got to draw Kel looking more frightening then friendly. It felt reminiscent of his good ol' days as a Guard Dog-rather then a RP proclaimed 'puppy'. (A title he does not mind as it implies endearment)

Some random facts to go along with this illustration~

-When angered, Kels horns and spires will crack to accommodate the excess heat he is emitting. They naturally cauterize as his frustration subsides, and return to their smooth state.
-While this does little to effect his Caindread form-it could have dire repercussions for his human one...
-Kels talons when lit possess a seering heat-which is why the water is bubbling and churning around his ankles.
-Added the moon cause I'm on a kick with them as of late~
