Description
My half of a trade with of his character Slicker the Raccoon !Had a whole lot of fun drawing this character! Must admit I took a lot of creative license since I wanted to make him look a bit more ninja-like to suit his skills while still preserving the major features of his existing appearance. The face was particularly enjoyable for some reason. I'm also enjoying hands a lot more than I usually do. I guess I've just figured out what I want out of them lately. Also, poses!

I'd love to do an art trade! I've got a bunch lined up already though, so I'm going to be pretty busy with them for a while.

I'm always amazed at the symmetry in your drawings, it's one of those "quiet" qualities that makes them very attractive and pleasing to the eyes [I believe it's a psychological fact that people don't realize at the moment]. You have a true, trained eye for that it seems, unless there is some secret grid or mirror feature you use? >w>
btw, the fact that you are enjoying drawing hands now is probably partly for the reason that you have fully acquired the skill to draw them. I can tell right away.

Well, I do use a mirror tool for perfectly symmetrical things like this guy's face. Since I use vectors, which are very mathematical curves that can be modified and duplicated after being drawn, it's really easy to preserve symmetry. I can manipulate my lines (rotate/resize/mirror/etc...) without anything becoming pixelated like with other kinds of digital drawing. Again, I should release a small demo of how I actually draw. I think it would be easier to understand that way.
For things that are "balanced," like how this guy's left leg and right arm follow the curve of the background, I think I just must have a bit of an eye for it. The background came after I'd already finished the character. I was able to notice, "Oh, this guy is actually posed in a bit of a "S" curve, so this would be a nice background to go with the pose." I'm a bit of an obsessive person as well, so I tend to tweak little things until they look just right.
As for the hands, I'm very glad it looks like I'm getting skilled at them! I think I've gotten a hang of their general shape and proportions, so now I just have to pose them. It certainly wasn't easy, though. Particularly with the "layer" nature of vectors.

I'd be very interested in watching a tutorial from you. You've certainly developed a fairly unique drawing method by what I have seen and read.
Now that you mention mathematical, all of your lines, curves and measurements do seem precisely calculated and balanced as you say, it's very appealing. It's hard to find fault in your drawings.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!:LA:
I love your alternate version of his outfit! And the scarf makes him so fancy. And you did really great with the face, I really like it. ;D
No shades but it looks so great! (I never expect shading in the first time tho)
Thank you so much for making this, your part will be done soon! ;O

I'm glad you like it!
I tried to make the shoulder and chest plates look a bit like your version, as well as the boots. I'm glad you like the scarf too! And yeah, I don't normally do shading.
It's just part of my style, I guess.

And you did really great on them!
Meh, I never expect any shades or anything that's fully detailed, all I care is the concept and design. That's how I usually do my stuff. ;D
