I find this horrible, in the fullest sense of the word. You have distorted the image to an extent that it is just recognisable as a face, but conveys the horror of being subsumed into the living death. Your compositing and blending is VERY skilful and the colour palette is consistent with the ocean depths. The light gradient between the foreground and background emphasizes this effect.
The way you've managed to fit so many tentacles onto the face and keep each one clearly delineated yet blended into a seamless whole makes the image completely convincing. The placement of the tentacles about the mouth is especially good, as is the choice to have only one eye & nostril.
Absolutely wonderful work.
Long live Lovecraft - I first encountered his work 40 years ago. Or at least, I assume this is the reference.
