They did! George Harrison funded "The Life of Brian" and was Executive Producer of Eric Idle's "The Rutles," a parody on the Beatles. And Ringo Starr was close friends with Graham Chapman.

I did not know the bit about Ringo and Graham! That is adorable! I knew George was very good friends with Eric Idle though, even appearing in the "Pirate Song" sketch. God I love that bit. And I heard a rumor he also appeared in one of the lumberjack song sketches...
