History: Sentinel's dead body was taken by Megatron and delivered to a scientist under his command, named "Sentora", who was stationed on Cybertron's moon in secret. Megatron had desires for an undying war machine that he could control with dark energon. Sentinel being the prodigy of his oldest enemy made him the perfect subject for this experiment.
Sentora completely dismantled the corpse, rebuilding it into a much more sinister and powerful body, leaving Sentinel nearly unrecognizable.
She worked hard to create a formula for self-regenerating energon, energon that would never run out, eternally fueling it's host and healing them from any and all injuries.
In the end, both Meagtron and Optimus Pirme had perished before Sentora could ever finish the project, and it was now available to be used for her own desires.
Sentora made an effort to speed the process of creating her regenerative energon formula- and she would soon make a grave mistake. She finally managed to create a successful formula, but failed to realize just how unstable it could become when used on a dead corpse.

When Sentinel was resurrected, the unstable energon had such an intense shock that it broke his mind and drove him mad. He lashed out violently, bringing Sentora's whole laboratory to ruins.
Barely making it out alive, Sentora eventually lured Sentinel into an air log, and launched him off-world back to Cybertron.
After reaching Cybertron, his craze and shock slowly began to calm over time, though unfortunately the effects on his mind would forever be permanent. His memories were practically lost and nothing more than a blur.
He eventually gave up trying to remember his previous life, and began trying to find himself in this new life, going by the name "Sharpblaze".

After a period of readjusting, Sharpblaze made a habit of attacking energon mines for game. He eventually gained the attention of Lockdown, the leader of an army of Mercenaries on the rise. Lockdown dealt with Sharpblaze personally after taking so many blows to his energon supply, and was the first to ever defeat him in a fight.
Though Lockdown was impressed by this amateur's feats and saw great potential in his power, so he decided to break a deal. If Sharpblaze were to hand over all the energon he had stolen, Lockdown would enroll him into the Mercenary army and take him under his wing.
Sharpblaze accepted the deal, and thus began a partnership between the two mechs.

Lockdown acted as a mentor to Sharpblaze, personally training him in combat. The two began to grow close, considering one another a brother. Sharpblaze held Lockdown in high regards for being the first person to ever take him in, and admired his skills as a warrior. In due time, Sharpblaze had been transformed into one of the most powerful forces known to Cybertron, due to his training with Lockdown.
However, the bond they shared would begin to shatter as the two grew apart. Lockdown became very cold, cruel, and power hungry. While Sharblaze's Autobot conscience began to unravel, calling his loyalty and capabilities as a Mercenary into question.
Sharpblaze felt betrayed and distant from his mentor, and was ready to go rogue. The final nail in the coffin was a prisoner named Valiona, who Lockdown had been tormenting. Sharpblaze pitied the prisoner and felt he had to help somehow, so he began sneaking energon into her cell at night. During his visits they formed a small bond, secretly beginning to admire one another. They realized that escaping the Mercenary base was in both their interests, and cooperated to form an epic escape plan, together.
From that point on, Sharpblaze was no longer associated with the Mercenaries. The next time him and Lockdown met, they would be enemies.
