I just love him. LoveloveloveLOVE him. I wish my rescue would take more mutts (aka dogs that look like yours, lol) but they're pretty set on BC's and herding breeds. :/
I'm on the look out for one like him, though. I wasn't able to bring Xander to my new apartment, and my heart is breaking not having my dog around. I love all these shots. You've really captured him beautifully. I also like knowing I'm not the only person who loves my dog so intimately. I always tell my boyfriend that if Xander were human, we'd have been married a long time ago, lol.

Gorgeous dog! ♥
I love how he's dark near his head and neck and it slowly blends into a lighter tan. And I just love that white marking on his chest. cx

Absolutely gorgeous. I love dogs when you can never really say "Oh, that's a ____, isn't it?" When they don't look like any breed in particular. This guy is just amazing. Do you know what kind of dog he is, though? My best guess would be...husky (siberian or alaskan, can't tell), aaand..golden retreiver, and maybe rottweiler? Could have saint bernard or bernese mountain dog for all I can tell, but I'd love to know. xD He's amazing, by far one of the most unique I've ever seen.

Dawww thank you! I was told he is part siberian husky/lab but a lot of people mistake labs/retrievers for the same thing.. but i really don't believe he is part lab, i'm thinking for sure retriever and the people mixed it up. But yes, the mother is park husky/samoyed and the father is a pure bread (retriever) which they called lab i'm assuming. So he is quite the mutt! All the puppies were beautiful too, ones just like him but all black.. and they have the 1 blue eye too! I am a very proud owner of this dog though eeeep I love him to bits! He gets so much attention with his blue eye when i'm out for walks [:

I was guessing golden retriever due to the tail, because I don't know of too many breeds who have such flowy tails like that. Theirs are usually thinner and more fanned out, but not always, especially not if he has any husky in them..I know from experience how thickly-bushy theirs are. xD
I've got two siberian husky/gray wolf hybrids, one of which is bi-eyed also. I get a lot of the "are they blind/half blind" stuff..in the case of my boy with the brown eye and the blue eye, I just say "Nope, he just forgot to put his other contact lens in, the little dork." xDD;
I think you mean purebred...it'd be weird to be pure bread. o3o; Do you have any photos of the one that's pure black? Hardly any pure black dogs have blue eyes, I've only seen about three or four who do...I'd /love/ to see. x)

Yes, I get people giving him that comment about the blind eye too lol.
-facepalm- it's been one of those days xD; (pure bread WTF?) MYBAD. But yeah, I have no photos of the black ones with blue eyes, I came across what was his sister in the country and she was all black but she was the one with two brown eyes. But I am hoping to meet up with a girl I randomly passed one day and she happened to be the owner of Dakota's brother because I noticed the dog with her walking down the street. I get really excited when I see other dogs that look like him so I turned around and randomly asked her where she got him and it just so happened to be the same place I got Dakota and whatnot. He looks exactly like Dakota, a tad darker and he has the blue eye but on the opposite side. He is gorgeous! I'm really hoping to meet her and bring them both out to get pictures!

Awwh, I sure wish I could meet my Nova's parents or sibling s again, his breeders moved away. I only ever met one of his brothers when I adopted him, he has three other siblings out there somewhere.
It'd be amazing to stumble across them, but his breeders lived about two hours away, so I kind of doubt I'll ever be lucky enough to do so.
I, like you, always approach people with interesting dogs. xD I'm the girl who sticks her head out a car window to go "That's a -gorgeous- dog!" xDD;
I've startled people so badly that they didn't even gather the sense to say thanks or anything before I'd already driven by. It's kind of funny to see their expressions, you'd think their dog never got a compliment before.
Then again, I'm used to my dogs literally slowing down traffic a bit when I run them, from all of the people slowing down a bit to watch the big ol' husky-wolfdog pulling a girl on a scooter on the sidewalk, so maybe I'm just used to all of the random comments. xD
I sure didn't adopt my babies to get attention, but I love educating people about their breeds, and it's actually made me a lot less antisocial since I've gotten my Novers.
I sure hope you get to meet up with your Dakota's brother so you can get a nice photoshoot, I'd absolutely love to see. ^^ You can officially label me a fan of you /and/ your dog now. x) Just out of curiosity, how old is he? And has he been fixed yet or anything?

Dakota has 6 other siblings i'm pretty sure. There were alot of pups to choose from when I went there but he was the one in the corner, the runt and the shy one xD. And I would say! Part husky/wolf i would have to slow down and look at them too! (I'd love to see photos of them btw) Dakota turned 2 last November, also no I do not have him fixed. I was pretty dead set against it since I went to a vet and he was trying to convince me that if i had him neutered he would have absolutely NO sex drive at all anymore. I looked at him like he was insane because it was a complete load of bullshit, obviously. But yes, I know they say it calms them down and whatnot but i've seen dogs that were fixed and hyper as anything, also they would still hump. So I didn't see the point. I do not let my dog roam free also so he will not be getting at any other dogs. Now if I had a female that would be a different story..

Heh, mine are only low-to-mid contents; one 37.5%, and one 18.75%. I have a ton of photos of them both on my photo account;
My male was intact for four years, and I never had any problems with marking in the house or unwanted sexual behaviors, nor certainly dominance problems, because even my elderly tiny little cattledog girl can kick the living snot out of him, and the poor guy just takes it. xDD
I recently had him altered for two reasons; first and foremost, to prevent any accidents of him mating with his daughter (she's far too young and I do NOT condone inbreeding), and of course, the benefit of such a lowered or even eliminated risk of testicular and prostate cancer.
And no, it doesn't always get rid of their sex drive, especially not if they've already hit sexual maturity before being fixed-- I've seen plenty of neutered males go nuts over females, and even get tied with them, despite being unable to produce pups. xDD; Nova sure hasn't changed any.
As for "calming them down", it just makes them less likely to roam in search of females.
In the case of huskies and hybrids, whether male or female, fixed or not, they're just as likely to try to run away, because they were simply bred to run. xD
I've always been extremely careful with mine, I don't even leave mine in my own well-fenced backyard unless I'm out there to keep an eye on them. It took me about three and a half years to select a nice female to breed him at all, and I think both their temperaments and appearances complemented each other perfectly. x)
If your boy is healthy and has a good temperament, I wouldn't see anything wrong with finding a nice female to breed him with, eventually...he's absolutely gorgeous, and such a unique dog. x) If you'd rather not, there's nothing wrong with that either, of course.
I'm glad you're careful about not letting him get out or go impregnate females or get into fights with competing males, always awesome to hear about responsible owners. <33
Thanks a bunch for responding, it's been awesome to hear about your Dakota baby. If you ever want to chat, I'm always available..I can talk about dogs for hours and hours. xD Thanks again. Looking forward to more photos of this handsome pupper. <33
