Description
Grrr.... I hate artblocks... but it did give me time to draw up a tutorial for you guys! (Not a whole lot of thinking involved, lol).Pretty much this is a step by step of how I draw faces, starting from the nose and working outwards. This is the method that I use the most (I realllly can't use the circle system-- it just doesn't work for me) in the most common expression and face angle that I pick when I'm bored and just want something cutesy. Choosing Simba was just supposed to be generic since I think he's the easiest to draw/sketch. So here you go, two for the price of one
Here are a few things you may want to know for now, but feel free to ask questions:
1. Lines that don't look like they should be there like in 3, 9, & 11 are "erase this part" marks.
2. This is NOT how I do my lineart. I nearly always will start out with a sketch before starting a new layer for the lineart.
2. I chose to use blue and red marks in hopes of making it less confusing for you guys. There are also some purple marks, but you should understand what those are without explanation I should think
2. Tip: In Photoshop or any other program at all, either draw the whiskers at the very end or put them on a separate layer. It makes coloring the "fur" sooo much easier.
3. If this method does not work for you, that's alright. This is my method and therefore it's the one that works BEST FOR ME. It takes time to develop your own.

And you know, it's funny to me how before you added the scrap of hair, it looked very much like Kiara. You have revealed the secret of how they designed her, methinks. XD

Meh, not so much. If I drew Kiara, she'd look unmistakenly like Kiara, but I see what you're looking at

Okay, let me rephrase to: before the ears.
Because she like, has Simba's face and Nala's ears. lol Maybe Nala's eyes too, but definitely his face shape.
Bugger I need to watch it again... lol

Not Nala's ears completly though
If you'll notice when you do watch it again, the part above the cheek on the ears has some little fluffies... if the location makes any sense

I always find it neat to see what order various artists draw things in.
Almost unfailingly I always start with the bridge of the nose/top of the muzzle and work my way from there. If doing a full sideview I start from the forehead.

When I did sideviews I used to start with the bridge and the forehead. I'm not totally sure what I start with now though considering I don't do a whole lot because they're difficult at times to do

Oh woow, you start with the nose? I start with the eyes! Then the nose, mouth, cheeks, head... I can't use the circle thing either xD But this is awesome, anyway!

I think I used to start with the eye, but then I had trouble getting the noses to look right or come up with different face poses. Yeah, circles kind of tank, lol
