Read all four tutorial they are really great thank's for making one of this now you know a little bit the basic

Yeah, I knew that. But if you're going to be using a pencil then you have to ADD more graphite, more paint, more digital coloring... if you're taking photographs, of which my tutorial is not, then yes, then it would be the subtraction of light. However, telling people that their shadows should be subtracting without going off on a dissertation of basic phyics would only confuse them. So it's much easier to tell the nonartists, which obviously you are not, that the shadows add thusly leaving them with some semblance of self-satisfaction.
