Description
So this was going to be one of my first tutorials and it was going to be awesome (totally). Then I got bored with it and figured I could better explain everything in the description. Think of the tutorial itself as just tips, while the actual learning material will be in the description.

Step 1: Lineart
The first thing I do when I make adoptables is find a lineart. I prefer to make my own, but there are definitely some good ones out there that I like to use. Now, depending on the type of adopt you're making, you're going to look for different lines.

Canines:

I'm only planning on talking about canines and felines, so I apologize for not being able to bring you any anthro or human linearts!

First, let's start with anatomy, so that you can make a good sketch before you try to draw any crazy fancy lines.

Canines v. Felines
You should begin here. It's important to know the differences between canines and felines so that your dog doesn't end up looking like a cat and so that your cat doesn't end up looking like a dog!

Step 2: Colors
Picking a base color.

Realistic
These colors will be a lot more "calm" than unrealistic colors. I'd say white, reddish, brown, black, or gray would fall into the category of realistic.

Unrealistic
Any color of the rainbow! :'D
Keep in mind: Color Wheel
And you can always use ColourLovers in case you're not sure what colors you'd like to use.

Step 3: Markings & Inspiration
Markings are part of what makes your adoptable unique! They can be difficult to make sometimes, but remember to have fun with them!

Inspirations
If I can't think of any interesting markings on my own, I like to look at other adoptables for inspiration. REMEMBER: NEVER COPY! NEVER STEAL!

Shading makes adoptables look nice. Remember, people aren't paying just for the design. They're also paying for the image.

And Don't Forget To...
- make rules for the buying and selling of your adoptables
- figure out what a good price for your adopts would be
- give credit
