Well then, you need to keep in mind that vocal tone (which is often used to express how something is meant) is not audible over the internet unless using a microphone. The way you said it could have easily been taken offensively, given that I do not know you nor could I hear the 'tone' in which it was 'said'.
You should consider whether or not what you have to say could be considered offensive in these circumstances before hitting the send button.
