Description I had some questions in the comment sections about the prince charming of this episode so here's a first hint
While I was rewriting the whole scenario of this episode I fell for the Miraculous Ladybug series   so Adrien has an appearance in the series but he won't join the group and their adventures, he's just another classmate   Anyway, I hope you will enjoy this episode

Hi there,
It depends how you want to share it, will it be on deviant art or another platform? If the latter, may I have the link before?

-Kitty and Silros watch as Merida says her lines-

Me: I think Merida's getting a little bit better

-Merida says her line but nothing happens, she says it again but nothing happened, she says it again but she yelled-

Silros: You were saying?      Me:

(P.S. Is that Elinor in the audience watching Merida finally being a REAL PRINCESS  )

Me: Hey c'mon Silros, you have to admit that it wasn't Merida's fault this time! And she got the text right! I think she did a great job here!
Silros: I don't think yelling and turning her back to the audience is a great job, do you?!!
Me: Aaaah... touché again

(P.S. Good observation it is Elinor! I'm glad you noticed her so here's a virtual cookie for you   )

I'm glad people recognized and seemed to appreciate the presence of Chat Noir. He's the best excuse to draw a handsome boy with cute cat ears in my series hehehe

C'mon guys, the challenge is stressful enough already for Merida... she doesn't need your help to make it any worst....

Hiccup is wearing the same costume as Anna and Adrian... Guess that means he isn't the "Prince Charming/Knight in Shinning Armor"   Oh well it may be for the best, he'd probably ruin her tiny chance of winning the challenge the moment they get to the part where they have to kiss.... Assuming he hasn't ruin it for her already before that

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-07-30 12:53:25 +0000 UTC]

Adrien is too reserved >.< still cute though, cat noir is adorable! However, i'm not a big fan of the shows limitless puns!
I agree! The fact that it's set in France made people intrigued by the show. Also, Ladybug x Cat noir! You cant resist shipping them!

Cat Noir/Adrien fits well with the big four! Will you add Ladybug/Marinette in later comics?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-01 15:22:24 +0000 UTC]

I agree, Adrien is really so reserved sometimes I want to shake him up a bit! And for the puns, I guess that I developed some kind of immunity for being in France for so long it's so easy to make puns in French, I've got a friend who was a pro in the bad pun category
I don't live in Paris and I liked how they represented the city, even if the city it's waaaaaaay too clean (seriously the Seine is not blue), people are too polite and the apartments/houses are too big be even a wintsy bitsy realistic. And the multicultural touch is cool too, Paris is a huge melting pot after all

Tbh I'm not really sure that I'll have the possibility to continue to make other Big4 comics (at least not as long as this one) but if I do it will be in the same universe. As Marinette and Adrien are supposed to be in the same classroom as the others they might appear again but once again, I'm not really sure what I will do next. I hope you wil enjoy this one at least

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-08-02 02:53:21 +0000 UTC]

LOLOL that's good to know! The show really made Paris look more beautiful than it actually is Yeah, there's too many puns O_O I can't handle it DX

Oh I see, that's a little sad
So I guess Adrien and Marinette could be exchange students from France or something

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-02 05:50:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah the city isn't that idyllic but don't get me wrong, Paris is beautiful! And when you know the cool places to go it gets even more beautiful
I should seriously listen to the series in French, I guess I'd have a storm of puns

And yeah, I'm sad too but this year is a bit catastrophic for my personal life. Even if drawing makes me happy and fulfilled in a way, my other problems are growing. Besides a series like this adds a bit of pressure on me, much more than requests or other kind of art projects (but I might end those too if things get worse). If I didn't have all those other sources of constant pressure I'd handle another comics pressure so easily... so basically I have to face my problems first then maybe I'll make another comics.
But let's stay positive and hey it's a nice idea, they could be exchange students indeed! I'll keep it in mind

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-08-02 09:34:16 +0000 UTC]

I understand. I mean, it would require more work for animators to make it look dirty in some places XD
Yes, you should!

Aw, I see. It's ok. You shouldn't let yourself be pressured. I agree that you would have to attend to your problems in your personal life too, it's hard to be inspired to draw when you are worried about those. Just draw whatever you feel like and whenever you have enough time! We support u!

Yeah it could be a special! How many hours does it usually take to make one part of your comic series? Asking as an artist in this one Personally, I have time management issues when it comes to drawing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-02 17:07:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah they'd need 6 months to modelize a realistic Seine river

Thanks, it's very sweet. I had a horrendous day and somehow managed to survive for now, given how things are evolving I think I'll just be in a hiatus in September but I should come back in a better shape sorry for bothering you with all those, I know it's random but sometimes I'm sick of holding so much pressure.

And for the comic well I never actually measured how many hours I need. I'd say, once I got the idea (that part can take a looong time if you don't have any inspiration) I need roughly 2h for the lineart + base color and maybe 7h for rendering each page (and I have a fairly long page of several panels, count less hours for a traditional manga page). Of course this will depend on the complexity of the perspective, how many objects are there, do I need too put a lot of details etc.... Thanks to sketchup I think I save 1/2 h of lineart however I need around 4h to make the entire scenery in 3D. I hope it helps Are you planning to make a comic on your own too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-08-05 09:27:50 +0000 UTC]

LOL yes!

It's natural to want to talk about it and express how you feel, it's a way to lessen the stress or pressure for most of us ^^

Whoa, that does take such a long time! thank you for the informative response! I'm very grateful for that. One drawing of mine can take more than 5 hours, i don't usually count and like you said, it depends on the inspiration level at the time XD And not to mention, when you wish to make changes in your drawing and have to go back a few steps again for it, it will take even  longer to finish the artwork DX

I want to, perhaps not as long as your comics but probably just one scene kind of comic with some conversations between characters, it's all I can do for now with the limited time i've got.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-05 14:00:38 +0000 UTC]

Drawing does take a lot of time and unfortunately gaining experience doesn't really shrink the time that you spend drawing   And yeah changes take a hella long time!
Good luck for your comics, it's a good idea to stick to a comic strip format. That's how I basically started, then my masochistic side slowly pushed me to make a longer story I hope you'll find the format that will suit you best

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-08-06 05:13:35 +0000 UTC]

DX It's really frustrating to not have enough time. You are quite right!
Awww, thank you. I'll keep your tips in mind. If i ever got around to creating comics, they would be short and sketchy. Nothing too fabulous since drawing it in detail would take too much time to finish and may lead to loss of interest.

XD I got a feeling that you did that. It's good that you were able to expand more on the story. Theyre so lighthearted and fun. Nice to see all those characters together. Theyre too cute!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-08 22:40:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah and it's even more frustrating to try to shorten some nights in hope to win some extra time and then lose 99% of your energy the next day
I'm glad I could help a bit you know, sometimes it's better to chose simplicity over details. I actually regret that I detailed that much my comic series, I know it might look "prettier" than a version without shading but it cost me a lot of time and effort, and in the end I don't see if it's really worth it... I'm convinced that people would rather stay hooked to a good story than just sequences of pretty drawings (unless they are super duper pretty but I don't have the skill for that). I don't deny that it increased my skills, but if I knew where this series were leading me, I would have chosen to put less effort in the rendering. Unfortunately, if I suddenly choose to change the rendering for the next page, I'm pretty sure it will look awkward for the readers and some might complain. I'd be even complaining at myself So, even if you can't predict exactly the evolution of your projects, it's good to take some time at the very beginning to think about the concept. And of course, have fun with it

And thank you very much for the feedback, it's always heartwarming to read the comment section and see that my story and all the work coming with it is appreciated. I really enjoy where this series is going and I have so much ideas for a prequel/sequel and all but as I told you, I might not be able to do any of those... but I'll keep being positive despite what my life will throw at me again

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-08-08 23:22:30 +0000 UTC]

Heck yes! Tried that and regretted it! Even if the drawing turned out well, u had to cope with being tired and cranky for the next few days XD And, personally, it's sad that I didn't get to earn any money
from that drawing.

Oh I see! Indeed, u have to keep them consistent. Maybe you can alter your style a little where it will help u finish a drawing faster? And if anyone complains badly about the drawing quality, they hardly have any right to do so > : ( It would only show how insensitive they are.

However, I think your readers are kind and would understand the changes you have to do if you ever decide to carry on with the changes.

Besides, if it means that u get to upload more often and progress with the story further, i think people will be happy XD

Perhaps u can focus on drawing details on one image drawings and not in comics?

Yes, keep being positive! And never rush yourself! It will only burn u out if u rush and pressure yourself and that's bad for an artist. And hey, I'm here to support you whenever.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-09 10:10:10 +0000 UTC]

I know that feeling
Personally I definitely gave up the idea of earning any money on my drawings. Given my situation and my way of dealing with things, I calculated that I'll just end up poor and die within 3 months if I tried to earn money with my art. I'm just doing my best not to get my art stolen even if it's free and not exceptional. There's a lot of competition when it comes to art, but if you're really motivated and you want to earn money with your art, I'd suggest you to work hard on your communication, keep drawing until your hand burns and submit art like crazy then again, I'm not really the one who could give you good tips on this matter... but I'm sure you'll find lots of tips on internet You could try other platforms too like parteon. Attending an art school is definitely a huge boost, but just remember your studies will define a lot your career. I regret choosing to study math for 9 years and it's not easy (almost impossible) to fix the consequences of that bad choice. If I chose an art school, my life would be much diferent. I don't want to frighten you or anything, just think about what you (not anyone else) really want, be aware of what it will cost you, be aware of the evolution of the career you're aiming for and when you chose your path wisely, go for it until the end

About the comics, I have 2 pages for the episode left + 1 conclusion page to do from scratch, so I think I'll keep that rendering until the end... I agree that I'm sooo lucky my readers are so kind and cute when I had to finish my PhD last year and take a break with the comics, I didn't have any pressure from anyone aside myself and that was so cool. I even have so many encouragements up to now even if I feel like I make everyone wait too long. Makes me want to hug everyone
IF I ever decide to continue the series, or even start one of my 1,000,000 oc stories, I'll simplify the rendering process for sure. As you mentioned, I'll keep the details for one image and requests.

Thanks again for your encouragements, it's one of the perks of dA, there are still comprehensive people in this community... Or I'm just lucky that my art attracted supportive people   Either way, I'll keep being positive

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-08-09 11:41:49 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow, that is a lot of work and honestly I don't think I'm willing to sacrifice that much for art XD I mean, I love drawing and sharing ideas with other artists, but i don't think it would be a practical choice for me. Still, I believe that anyone who has passion enough to make such sacrifices is admirable! And thank you for the tips!

9 years!! OoO That is such a long time!! I can understand the feeling of regret though. Because those are years you can never get back, however, it's not completely too late for us either! I spent 4 years in nursing school actually. Always thought that it would have been better if i chose art. I have friends who told me art school was tiring but lots of fun!

Yes! That's very fortunate! I think your art will definitely attract positive thinking people. XD ah well, the worst person who pressures us is ourselves!

I agree ^^ DA is full of nice people. They keep you motivated and encouraged, especially when you become close and become friends with them

You can do it!

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-09 12:33:50 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome and yeah I admire a lot professional artists! People think about them mainly for their art, but we never know what they had to go through to get to their level!

You 100% got the point, I really feel as if I ripped off so many precious years of my youth just for peanut shells and 2 horrible depression phases... actually I really regret the 4 last years (corresponding to my PhD). Even if I didn't enter art school, I always thought that if I didn't do a PhD, found a good job and started my dA activities just as I did, I would be happier than today and work on my art projects with less stress... But it's silly to think about things that can't be changed. Hey nursing school sounds really cool! I don't know how is the situation in your country but I guess you can find a stable job with your degree. Not to mention that you will be actually helping a lot of people and that's really cool In that case, I understand that you don't have much time to draw btw you are lucky to have friends in art school, you can ask them tips I'm sure they'll help you improve your art much faster

This community really helped me out through my dark days I'm still open to criticism though and feedbacks is what helps us the most to improve our art but I didn't expect that talking to people here and there would improve my life in itself ugh that sounded soooo cheesy but it's the truth so I'm really thankful for that I really can't wait to solve my personal problems so I can be more invested in this community I miss browsing other's art and motivate artists too

Thanks again for this exchange my friend, it lightens my day

Frappe7 In reply to shinjuco [2016-08-10 08:05:36 +0000 UTC]

I know right! I've heard some artist even choose to select their social lives so they can fully focus on their art for a certain amount of time!

I can understand how you feel that you'd have been better off if you've used those years doing something you like more, which is art. It's a good thing you are on dA now and are having a lot of fun with what you have created here ^^
LOL yes, however, we don't discuss art that much. I do see them draw on their sketch pads sometimes.
Nursing is good, yes, but I didn't really like it if i'd  be honest.

XD it's not cheesy at all, i'm sure other deviants have gone through the same thing!
I hope you solve your problems soon! And no prob! ^w^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shinjuco In reply to Frappe7 [2016-08-11 18:56:40 +0000 UTC]

I didn't hear about that but I guess it was a necessary sacrifice   the life of an artist is really not easy

You're right, I'm lucky I found dA however I still remember some deviants left and were very upset about dA, I hope it won't happen to me! I try to stay away from drama and do my best in the limit of my skills so it should do
That's too bad for your studies... if it helps a bit, I know that feeling did you find up what kind of studies you'd prefer to do yet? I know 4 years of studies are looong but it's perhaps not to late to change your field. Sorry if it's a too personal question you don't have to answer

Anyway, I hope I'll solve my problems soon too! Meanwhile I'm going back to work on the series' next page
