My vague knowledge of copyright law would tells me that you only need permission if you are making money from your artwork and even then it doesn't automatically mean they should get cash from you. After all they sold the model and effectively relinquished control of it's use thereafter.

There a lot of if's to work through first. I've got 90% of the gorgeous Stevie Nicks from 1976 but found there were issues with the end of her nose and I couldn't find the correct morph so that's that's now on hold. But I'll keep you informed.
