Life: How many times are you going to draw Frollo this week?Me: Not enough
Actually, this sketch has been sitting on my computer for a few weeks. I'm just starting to clean up and finish up some older work.
Theory time!
I watched Fantasia a few weeks back for the first time in 10+ years. At the ending sequence Ave Maria, my brain couldn't help but start working. Fantasia was done back in the day when religion was not a taboo topic to portray Disney animation. I couldn't really remember any movies that threw out religion so blatantly since...and you can see where this is going.
Fantasia and Hunchback are the only Disney movies that I've heard mention the Virgin Mary. Considering that Chernabog and Frollo are two villains that are generally "swept under the magic carpet" I thought it was an interesting connection. Chernabog is a Disney version of satan who rises out a "fiery pit" to torture broken, corrupted souls. Who's to say he wasn't the true cause of Frollo's corruption or that maybe he was the one pulling the strings? He could even be blamed for the evil that is present in all Disney movies. Meh, I can go on, but I think I made my point XD!

This really does work, especially in light of the nostalgia critic citing chernabog as the number 1 Disney villain

On YT I made a vid that actually has something like this happening. I showed this art to friends of mine and they were reminded of it again. Love the art. Great job on it

Oh, wow, this is so awesome! It reminds me of this short story I wrote with a friend of mine from the Disney writing site Fantasmic. She wrote as Chernabog and I wrote as Frollo where he basically sold his soul to the devil so he could try and get Esmeralda. Check it out here: [link] It's such a great idea to have these two like this, it makes sense too.

It totally makes sense. I'm shocked that there's not a whole bunch of people who use the connection with Frollo or any of the other villains. Chernabog seems to be overlooked for one reason or another. Just from my personal opinion, I feel like he's linked to all the evil in the Disney universe. It's gotta come from somewhere...
*runs off to read your story *

Not. E. Nuff,. fantastic, this is a lovely, and magnificent piece, and really brings a depressing empathy to the side of frollo,. and great connections!! disney does seem to like to have its universe exist in just such ways sometimes. Have you read Victor Hugo's actual Hunchback of Notre Dam?

Thank you very much ! I've got 1,000 Disney theories floating in my head, this one was just one of my faves :3! It does seem like all the Disney characters know each other or know that they all exist. Kingdom Hearts and The House of Mouse set the grounds for any type of crossover imo. I've skimmed through the novel to delve into Frollo's personality for scripting/comicing purposes. I do plan to read it fully when I'm done reading Vampire Hunter D.
