WOW, This is amazing! It must have taken you a few tries to get it right at that spit second. Many people have tried to do this but have failed. I have to give you 5 stars because of effort and originality you must had to do this. I love how it'a not just whole it has many sprays coming off of it. This is an AWESOMESAUCE example of what we humans miss when we blink.
Some words/phrases I would use:
Awesome
Epic
Amazing
Breath-Taking
Awesomesauce

Oh My Gosh...
Is this real?
Oh my gosh it is!

I really like this picture. You can almost feel the tension of the balloon before it pops, and I think it's very cool how the water is still in he shape of the balloon (save a few sprays, which makes it look that much better). I've seen a lot of balloon-popping, not all on deviantART, which is why the originality isn't all that. However, this is the first I've seen with so much thought put into it. Thousands of pictures must have been taken and sorted through, not to mention all the balloons filled. I was riveted when I first saw the picture. This kind of thing that happens in the blink of an eye and is usually missed. Overall, amazing photography. Keep doing this!

Hmm... if you filled.. say, a heart-shaped balloon, do you think it'd be possible to accomplish the same thing? I'm just curious (: It'd look pretty neat ;D Great shoot by the way (: It looks fantastically awesome

if the rubber of the balloon was made into a heart shape yes its possible. However in order to take the pic at the right moment before the water moves into a ball would be extremely difficult I think.

couldn't you have some kind of coloured powder mixed with air inside and pop it? how would that work effects wise?

hmm.... sounds like it would work. But only if you could take the picture the second after the balloon pops. Because with pressure of the air flowing outward would cause the powder to fly out in all directions, and it would fly out faster because it is lighter than water.

Im not sure how specific your assignment is/was, but I think colored liquid and a white background would produce an awesome effect. I was recently .asked to draw a tattoo of this exact thing.

I feel refreshed just looking at the water in this balloon, nice lighting, and fantastic capture! Sure the ideas not original, but here there's enough of an impression that made this idea your own. Now my suggestion, next time I'd change the lighting a bit, or use a different background in order catch every little droplet and make it even more breathe taking. That's just a suggestion, you don't have to. (:
