These only happen every so often after a dozen years or so. Prepare yourselves everyone!
This is a very exciting day in our solar system! Be cautious of staring at the eclipse directly though, this can really damage your eyes.

I can only imagine how much power it takes though to hold the moon in that position for such a long time too.

I was in a place that saw 98% coverage. It was fun to see the sun reduced to a fingernail. I also enjoyed looking around to see the sky dimmer than usual as well as the crescent-shaped highlights in the shadows of the trees. I spent about an hour in a city park pointing out the difference in the shadows to anyone who would listen. It was fun. Perhaps next time I will reach a place that gets total coverage.

Honestly... if you live about 400+ miles away and you're able to see a half eclipse, it's not even worth going outisde to see it because all you will see is the bright sun and that's it.
It will get a little dark too
