very complex curves on the body makes it hard to get both sides even (thinking about using that mirror tool for the next car body...)

Double up a mirror of it now, and delete half of each...? Merge them? Just throwing out ideas.

Hmmm might save as different name and see if that'd work for me... Thanx

You can merge imports, can't you? I just remember something from Truespace about that, and adding or subtracting intersections...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-03 20:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes I can merge any two or more 'objects' once they are in the scene... I can import a lot of different types of files (except .max strangely enough)... and any of them once in the scene can be merged together...

I know, Blender does ALL of my file type transfers. That's pretty much all I can do with it. And delete the cube...

Use the Cube!

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-04 16:51:03 +0000 UTC]

I don't think all of my model transfer work needs an extra cube in there. Especially since I still don't build anything in Blender yet. Except a cube...

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-04 17:21:19 +0000 UTC]

You missed my point ... Use the cube - make a model IN Blender

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-05 02:13:50 +0000 UTC]

Ahem... I've just figured out how to delete it. I'm a long way from using it for anything except a cube.

Grab a dot (vertice) and move it... then grab a different one and move it....

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-07 00:51:25 +0000 UTC]

There are modes? No blankin wonder!

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-07 08:49:39 +0000 UTC]

LOL - yeah there are... Object Mode, Edit Mode, UV Select Mode, UV Weight Paint Mode, and a couple of more... (I don't use them so I can't remember what they are called.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-08 01:33:57 +0000 UTC]

I guess I must be in object mode. Because there doesn't seem to be any editing options. How do I switch modes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-08 01:40:09 +0000 UTC]

At the bottom of the view area, you'll see "Object Mode" and a little down arrow, click "Object Mode" and you'll get a menu of modes.... select "Edit Mode" - and then the image will change to show the vertices highlighted... you can select a singe vertice by right clicking it, you can select more than one by holding the shift key while right clicking... play with it a bit you'll have that cube all bent out of shape in no time ;D

Got it. I think I can manage that. A messed up cube...

lol... once you mess it up well subdivide it

I hope you realize that I never was much good with modeling clay. I've always done carving. So, I might give a try at pushing.

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-08 23:50:35 +0000 UTC]

ah ah ha ha... I found it easier to move them side to side ... or scale them on an axis (usually the one showing from side to side or up/down as going to/from you is a bit difficult to see HOW FAR it is moving....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-09 00:37:33 +0000 UTC]

Push and turn, push and turn, like you would a carving... Set the "brush" to a low setting. I've played. Poser.

Agh, see the blind can indeed lead the blind - now create another object - look at top of the view screen and look for the word ADD click it = play with other types of things.. see what they do and how they do it... play and you will learn...

I put those in those in those plastic toy airplanes...

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-10 15:50:33 +0000 UTC]

My favorite use of the roman candle was shooting them at monster-type toys. The classic Godzilla scenario.

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-10 19:33:32 +0000 UTC]

never had any of those (monster toys... )

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-11 01:31:08 +0000 UTC]

I had several of the Godzilla and friends/enemies. Bottle rockets were perfect for the Green Army Man and parachute.

ha ha ha! The snaptight F16 Model works really good for that!!

Ha! I was thinking something in the styrofoam glider department. Something like that might actually get some lift!

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-11 21:11:59 +0000 UTC]

The lightweight plastic model has fixed wings and a nice place to put the bottle rocket - it'll fly just like a jet in whatever direction you aim it and then 'go boom'

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-11 23:10:24 +0000 UTC]

That's what I'm after!

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-11 23:13:53 +0000 UTC]

The 'roman candle' type botte rocket (check for legality in your area before buying) have to be built into the F16 model... but they do the most damage to the model...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-13 04:13:14 +0000 UTC]

Legality? *looks over shoulder* I'm way out in the country. Not legal to sell in the state, but there are ways around. For the 4th, I had a trunk-load of fireworks delivered from... a different state... Six cases total. I've always got fireworks. I'll just have to get some rockets.

oh... here they are for "Agricultural Usage"

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-13 11:10:50 +0000 UTC]

Ha! Scaring off deer, eh? I like that. I guess I should plant a garden just so I can shoot off my fireworks! And I forgot, I have a case of model rocket engines! They don't go boom, but some of them have a small parachute eject charge.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-13 18:54:11 +0000 UTC]

oh, now those rockets (depending on size) would be cool for the model planes (ya know the first few flights before the bottle rockets )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-14 00:01:28 +0000 UTC]

I have a variety of sizes. From big enough to crash and burn, to barely enough to move it, regardless the size. Rocket engines...

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-14 00:40:04 +0000 UTC]

Due to the 'roximity' of NASA, Martin Meritta, and several tourist attractions, we can't really get rocket engines here....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-14 02:42:54 +0000 UTC]

Around here, we have cows as the tourist attraction, and trees in the fall... We can't buy anything that shoots into the air here, from in-state. But if you buy it from somewhere else, you can own it legally... and shoot it off... Go figure.

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-11-14 02:45:03 +0000 UTC]

We have to get a farm bureu license to buy fireworks, and roman candles are the largest of those we can have - can't fire them within city limits of any city (and the area I live is erm ALL city....)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-11-15 02:54:56 +0000 UTC]

We have an almost-city about 40 miles away. We live WAY out in the country. From my upstairs window I can see the upstairs of one house, about a quarter mile away. From the ground, I can see the peak of the roof.

I live in an apartment complex. from my windows (any of them) I can just see more buildings that look just like the one I live in.. --- I want to live in a house in a neighborhood... oh well, maybe if I sell enough models to afford one.....
