i hope one of the future versions of blender will be able to handle digitally reconstructed radiographs so that nerdy radiation oncologists like me can try out new techniques on virtual humans

Yeah, but, I'm holding out to see exactly how customizable 2.5 is really going to be... I created my own theme by using the 'default rounded theme' and then changing some of the colors to make it easier for viewing.

I've used 2.5 alpha 0, it's very functional, with some minor bugs, but the customizability is great, way more than any of the 2.4 versions
btw, in case you haven't noticed, once they've finished developing 2.5, they're going to call it 2.6, 2.5 is a re-development stage of blender, alpha 0 is the first carnation of it

well alpha 0 is working perfectly, I haven't had any problems with it so far
there's no deb package, but what you can do is just unpack the tarball file and run the executable in there

I put this up as there is an image of the 2.5 layout and I don't much care for it's menu locations, and made reference to this image in order that people would understand how I have my layout on my Blender (and it's the same on both my Windows and my Linux.)
