Description
A screen shot of my Blender - doing the BenzThe suspension is 'mostly done' (just needs the actual springs'.
The rims and tires are mine from a previous concept... (I like them so I'm using them - that and the one from this car are complex...

Thanks, I should be getting the dash done by tomorrow - I'll do a different camera angle on it in order to show the details that I'm putting into it.

I was one of MANY - that have been asking for them for a long time - they really could not add them before now as the old servers, I don't think they would have handled them - I've already sorted my art into folders

Really? Wow.
Where do you go to sort your gallery into albums?

SiathLinux In reply to mistythemistic [2007-11-24 17:54:13 +0000 UTC]
You view your own gallery - it'll be on the left side of the screen == you rename the 'blank' one that is there and you can create new ones and name them as well

I have to start over from scratch ... after I fully uninstall and re-install Blender - somethings just not right with it...
Thanks for the comment -- I'll do it better next time round as I have looked back at my many mistakes in making this and know not to make them again...

This is the most complex thing I've made yet - and when I'm done with it - it will have more verts/faces than anything I've created to date.

Thank you - I've restarted the front body mesh 3 times now - and about to restart a 4th time - its SO 'curved' that it's making it hard to get it to 'shape' right....

Try doing it without actually being able to see 3d (I'm nearsited in one eye and farsited in the other - I don't see out of both eyes at the same time).....

not in my case - I do however wear glasses, but they are more for glare reduction (I have a sensitivity to bright lights)

Ahh so this is Blender. Strangely...i've never heard of it Just the popular ones like maya, 3ds max, XSI, Zbrush, and Lightwave. Looks pretty good! I still have a ways to go to do complex designs like that

There are a lot of resources available for Blender such a as Python Script - if your using Windows they are easy to setup, Linux a little more difficult .... Also, RafRay rendering is fairly nice

I don't know about the shader, I'm finding out if it's just Windows. It's a zip file, so it probably is.

[link] Here's the shader, which turns out to be a renderer. Ever hear of pixie? Looking at the example render of a MakeHuman model, it looks pretty good. I don't have the right framework, so I'll have to make the install through linux, which also means that I'll have to download the MakeHuman Linux version. No biggie.

I just spent the last 3 hours upgrading Kubuntu from Feisty to whatever they are calling the newest version.... Now I'm having some issues with Blender and pretty much anything that uses Python...

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-10-27 23:21:58 +0000 UTC]
Did they do a new Python to upgrade, as well? Or maybe Glade would work for you. Don't I remember that being a gtk render environment?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-10-28 00:19:20 +0000 UTC]
It is indeed gtk rendering environment (which is why Windows users have to install gtk before they can install Blender or The Gimp... (Gimp uses gtk as well...) - but Python is how the program manipulates the verts ... let me look and see what version of Python I have now ... so many upgrade at one time... I don't see where to see the Python version....

In your blender program folder, you'll have the python dll it will be python25.dll, at least that's the version I have. Which I assume is version 2.5, since I seem to have 24 for Poser, and 23 for open office and PaintShop.

no dll in Linux... that's a Windows filetype (owned by Microsoft..)

Right, but Linux still uses it's equivalent. A reference file to determine a program's interaction with the system.

erm yeah - they are used similar to the way a hardware driver would be and reside in: /usr/local/bin/ the files within /bin are a text type file - editable with a simple text editor...

So, the programs all read the same python? Or are there separate folders? I would check myself, but I have Windows open, with a bunch of windows open. I still haven't gotten Wine to work, pretty much at all. Speaking of drivers and dlls.

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-10-28 05:50:31 +0000 UTC]
Same Python...
You will need those windows DLL's for WINE - but not all of them (most of the programs that need them will tell you what you need... typically it's for the video or sound for the game).
