The water was a texture (Uv Mapped to 25% opacity)... so no it didn't come out as good.
the Dipper (pan) is a 'Blender original' material setting and as it was rendered with YafRay it was 'raytraced'

I have better settings I've learned for water - may re-render it at some point - but right now working out the whole animation thing

There's something going on with the textures on the top of the well, and there are some seams in the inside of the well.

Yeah my UV unwapper rips my uv's into 4 parts when it does a tube or circular object...

What do you use to unwrap it?

UV Unwrapper - smart project (the other unwrapper places mesh over mesh on the unwrapped image for some reason)

Hmmm...Roadkill is pretty good, and so is UV Magic Unwrap or UV Unwrap Magic? One of those is it. I'll ask my friend.
