the fiery sky reminds me of a vague memory...
i remember watching this as a 2 yr or 3yr old.. in 1986-87...
when half a dozen jets go on to attack a 'rouge ship' in some sea... sky is red and scary...
all 6 jets got shot!
i remember asking , "do people inside the jets die when they are shot?" . .. .
my first anti-war statement

I am against war in general - although it seems that they will always happens...
However, in the digital world - the craft look cool, and I have fun making them

I reworked over 3/4 of the shell - I had a crappy time of getting those rear wings to 'be right' as they didn't want to look right in the render....
lol the rockets are a simple mesh - (if you want rockets - I'll make you some that rock)

You can't expect me to respond on a missing work. File not found...
Sourceforge.net has archivers for linux. Most people seem to use ZIP, and then tar would seem to be the next most popular format. I have the software to open and re-archive pretty much whatever format you choose. No problem making it/them available.
The rockets should be included with your aircraft, as an option!

3DStudio format? You WOULD force me to open blender. It looks good! How do I get rid of the cube, again? So you have the rim, and tire as two distinct objects. Seems kinda logical...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-09-29 14:56:32 +0000 UTC]
Well the rim and tire ARE two objects as they would not use the same material properties (although a shiny metallic tire would be interesting artistically ...) to rid yourself of that pesky cube you make sure your in object mode and then right click the annoying thing and click the x key and then click delete object.

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-09-29 16:23:04 +0000 UTC]
Ah! I had forgotten about the X. I managed to get it selected, and it was happy to move anywhere I wanted it...
When you merge the two objects, into a new object(tire with rim), the materials properties of the two should remain distinct, right?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-09-29 18:04:52 +0000 UTC]
erm - nope - they take on the one of the first selected - although you would not notice this until you closed it and reopened it...
The trick is to Group the two objects and this way you select the Group and manipulate the Group .. however when you want to edit the mesh you have to select the individual parts.

I'm just thinking of when something like this is made available to the public. Since you can't exactly make things in Poser or DAZ, how is it that people put together such complicated models, and they all come in one piece, in one obj file? Just a simple example, is a wall with a gate. One obj file, and there HAS to be two separate models there, for it to open and close. If you were to merge the two objects, and then export them, would they then take on the properties of each other? The gate having the stone surface, or the wall being made of iron? How does one combine the bits and pieces that it takes to make some common, everyday objects?

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-09-29 19:41:54 +0000 UTC]
That's actually not as complicated as you making it seem....
for example in Blender I created the object 'rim' I then created a new object 'tire' - both are on the screen and visible - they have their own textures and or visual look... when I save as a .blend (normal blender file) it saves both objects as ONE file.... when I export them as .obj it is basically doing the same thing.. the two objects are saved within the one .obj file.
I have some files (the ship is another example - their is the shell and the glass) that can have many objects - a better example is the construction wagon - that has about 40 separate objects within the .blend file - if I exported it to .obj or .3ds it would be the same 40 objects within the file.

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-09-30 11:45:31 +0000 UTC]
That's within the same obj file?
BTW - I got Linux Magazine, and Linux Format Magazine. They both had disks this month. One has SUSE Linux, and the other has LXF, Gentoo and some other things. Got a new Seagate. 180GB So I should be able to transfer all of my DAZ/Poser content, and free up lots of drive C:

Sweet - I've never used Suse - but I've been told it's a really nice version of Linux.
