Description
Glitches and Circuits, Illusions and Dreams, All and NothingInfinite and Void
If anyone was wondering why there's been a lot of Void from Sonic Shuffle in my Gallery lately, this is mainly why lol
For the longest time Infinite and his powers have reminded me of Void, along with a few parallels I noticed between them. So due to the lack of background given for the Phantom Ruby, I have head cannoned that the PR was Void and both Eggman and Infinite have been corrupting him with their hatred to Sonic and Shadow respectively so they could use his powers. I won't go into too much details here, I'll post a literature entry to go in depth about it. But here are some points that show the similarities or parallels between these two:
*Parallel naming schemes (Infinite = Everything/Void = Nothing)
*Infinite's red glitch effects from his powers // Void's green circuitry effects from his powers (even the colors are opposite on the color wheel)
*Infinite's powers of bringing illusions to reality // Void's ability to alter dream worlds and he is the more powerful half of the Goddess of Dream, Illumina
*Green Hill's sudden sandy transformation supposedly due to the Phantom Ruby's power // Void's ability to distort the dream realms into completely different environments
*Infinite holds an element of loneliness near the end of Sonic Forces // Void suffered with loneliness in Sonic Shuffle only to have that element be revealed in the end of the game
*Tails describing the Phantom Ruby's power as, and I quote, "Like a dream so real, if you bump yourself in it, your sleeping self will bruise"
*After Infinite's final boss fight, he says "No, Wait! I can still fight!" but he can't be talking to Eggman because A: Eggman isn't in control of the Phantom Ruby, as Infinite still has it, and B: He teleports to the top of the tower, far away from Eggman who shows up next to Sonic a few seconds later. So who is Infinite talking to?
*The comics show that the Phantom Ruby that Infinite uses is the final version of various PR experiments that were all based on the original Phantom Ruby that Eggman just found in front of his lab, but the nothing ever explains where the original PR originaly came from.

Thank you for reading and seeing this image, I hope everyone enjoys it. Special thanks to Cylent-Nite for the suggestion to draw this.
Until next time, have a nice day everyone!

I made the connection too, I would love to see how they would play off each other.
Void is part of the Preciousstone and Infinite has the power of the Phantom Ruby so they both have magic rock (well void IS a magic rock but whatever) but personality wise they are nothing alike.
Void has no control over his power due to the chip in his stone and doesn't want to hurt anyone- heck he even helps the player if you land on his space, infinite on the other hand wants to watch the world burn.
As for the picture itself I think it's neat but what's up with Void's eyes?
For starters his eyelashes are missing, was it intentional not to have them?
Secondly why is the red glow on his chest, when he's defeated he drops one of his crystal arm/wrist cuffs not the stone on his chest so it seems odd to draw attention to his shirt detail- though granted it did play a role in his monster form so maybe ignore this point.
Third and finally is why are his eyes white? His eyes are meant to be a galaxy, I get that he's crying so the bloodshot eyes make sense but was this the only way to pull off that emotion? What I do when drawing Void to make him emote is have one larger star to act as a pupil, if other stars interfere with it just draw either the one star or make the smaller stars another shade to make it clear what emotion he's giving. Though I've never toyed with making Void's eyes bloodshot, does he even have blood?

Thank you so much for the comment. Are for the list of concerns you have:
First, yes I did intentionally left out his long eyelashes.
Second, the original idea behind this image was not that Infinite defeated Void in a physical fight, but more that Infinite is abusing Void and the poor kid is straining to keep himself together in a mental fight for control, as to reflect the head canon I listed in the link in the description.
Third, The reason I made his right eye that way is to show the unnatural connection between them in another way, so Void inherited Infinite's right eye and vice versa for Infinite, since Infinite's mask hides his right eye. Otherwise both of their left eyes are normal. And the redness in Void's eye was to help show that the corruption is getting worse on him, although I can see how you would see that as being bloodshot. In retrospect I kinda wish I was able to show this a little better, but I just couldn't think of a way at the time.
The image was more about exploring the head canon idea in a visual way rather than showing accuracy to their original forms, as it's more about the state of their minds in a scenario like this rather than a state of body. But I can see and respect your views on the image as well, because art can have different meanings to different people. But thank you for taking the time to list out your questions.

AH yeah that makes a bit more sense, I didn't have the time read the headcanon as I had seen the picture late at night and was pretty tired.
If you wanted to show Void's corruption I would've made his eye closer to his monster form- if you remember his eyes were red and yellow just like infinite's so the parallel would work better (at least in my opinion.)
Although I didn't read your headcanon you did get me thinking on what would happen if the two met.
Void does not seem like the type to fight so he'd probably just keep dodging Infinite's attacks, Infinite then ends up hurting Void with his words instead. Saying things such as "If the world doesn't care about you why should you care about the world. and "You don't need friends, all you need is power." and ends up breaking him and making him turn to the dark side or something.
Oh who knows, we know Void and Lumina have the power to enter the waking world so maybe Infinite could trick Void to coming to the real world to defeat him and steal his stone assuming Infinite no longer has the phantom ruby to use it him as a replacement.

Yeah, the eyes of Void's corrupted form matching that of Infinite's eyes with his mask on was another parallel that I hoped to draw at first. But when the digital comic revealed that his right eye was blue I was kinda on the fence on what color I should make the eye, but ended up choosing blue. And don't feel rushed to read it, it won't be going anywhere lol. You can read it when you feel like you have the time.
And I can see Void using that kind of strategy too, although even so would he know how to fight? I mean yes he has his own abilities but aside from his corrupted form he's never been in a fight before, at least not one where he has complete control over his actions. And I can totally see Infinite trying to mess with him in that way, and if he realized that Void was one half of the Goddess of Dreams then I can also see him trying to either sway Void to help him or to just take Void's power by force.
Thank you for your thoughts, I love discussions like these.
